TRU B2G1 sale, not the big one..

Starting on Sunday's sale, TRU is having all GC, PS2 and Xbox Games priced 19.9x buy two get one free.

Unfortunately, this doesn't apply to any games under or over that amount, which is kinda crappy. This amounts to a little better than the 2 for $30 sale that run from time to time.

Supposedly the big one is still on for later this year, according to my store manager. The big board game sale, however, has been killed.

All the ad says (I have it and next weeks right in front of me) "Buy 2 get the 3rd Free on ALL 19.99 PS2, Xbox & GameCube Games" with 6 random games pictured. I asked the manager about the restrictions and all he said was 19.99/.98/.95 games for the listed consoles. So no DS, GBA, PSP or XB360.

I'd assume that cross-system would be allowed.

Oh, the board game sale was great. I bought a deluxe turntable Scrabble game and got Risk 2210 for free when I pointed out that Avalon Hill is a subsidiary of Hasbro and should be included in the sale. They were so confused they did an override and gave it to me :-)

I did choose the cheapest option. Did everything the same the secodn time around and for some reason it went from 8.00 to 9.08. I went ahead and proceeded with it. If I end up getting six games for under 20 bucks I won't complain. If they won't honor this error they sure as hell better cancel it rather than adjust the price. What does everyone else think about this? In the event they won't honor, will they adjust the price or just cancel it and inform us? I think the latter would be most proper and legal for that matter. Nah I'm not angry. What can you do. No one has more right than another to have taken advantage of this deal. I just really wanted this deal to go through. I was really hoping that it would only go on for a couple of hours, that way there would be far fewer orders than there are by now and perhaps more of a chance that Toys R Us would own up to their mistake. TRU had an online special where you buy 2 games, get 1 free. The only problem is there is a glitch in the system so if you added 3 games (buying 2, getting 1 free), ALL 3 would be FREE. All you had to do is pay for shipping which is like 5 bucks for 3 games.

I don't think the whole Disgaea thing was posted on FW or SD, but (because it's still on my favorite searches on eBay which I go through every day) I've seen SEVERAL Disgaeas w/ BONUS!!! up on there lately. Ordering a ton makes them catch the mistake faster, and also makes them more likely to cancel it. By ordering a ton of shit instead of just a few everyone ends up getting no cheap games instead of 3 or so cheap games. Ordering a ton makes them catch the mistake faster, and also makes them more likely to cancel it. By ordering a ton of shit instead of just a few everyone ends up getting no cheap games instead of 3 or so cheap games. I knew I had to act fast because FW is hundreds of times bigger than CAG so without thinking I ordered as much as I could. I figured if I didn't order what I did, they would go to FW or SD ANYWAY.

I've scanned through several of the slickdeals pages and haven't seen anyone order more than six games (in fact, most are ordering other toys and one ordered only two games rather than fill the promo order with three). I know we like to blame SD and FW for all our troubles in getting these glitches to work, but this deal was just as likely to be cancelled if it was restricted to CAG.

I think most of us on CAG just ordered games and not toys and stuff to ebay. I only order 1 copy of the game that I'm interested in. I know there was some CAG noob that ordered like 6 copies of Zelda and such. So yeah CAG is a mixed community, there are those that like to take advantage of deals for trade fodder.

My problem is when people buy quality games, and just open them and trade them in to EB because of their trade 3 for $10. (I think it's gotten a bit out of hand with some CAGs). I've even seen craigslist ads where a person is selling information on how to build up credit at EB, etc.

I have to say that I have more respect to hoarders who sell back on ebay. Don't really know why except maybe they're at least doing some kind of work.

You also have to remember that we don't have any proof that other sites took the deal from CAG. It's entirely possible that they discovered it independently, and for that matter we don't know that the person who first mentioned the glitch didn't hear about it from somewhere else.

Here's what happened. TRU advertised a B2G1F sale on any video game priced $19.9x, where x is any number. It was pretty quickly figured out that if you put 3 games in your cart, instead of getting 1 free, you'd get ALL 3 free, and only have to pay shipping and handling, which for some reason seemed to vary from around $4 up to $9 or so depending on the person ordering it. Not sure why.

In any case, thos of us who ordered last night got confirmation emails. Sometime this morning, though, the deal got posted to fatwallet and all those other sites, and TRU got flooded with orders. They finally stopped all the nonsense.

As for what'll happen to the orders of those of us who just picked up a few (almost) free games last night, we'll have to wait and see. The likely answer is that they'll cancell all orders, but you never know.

The people on Slickdeals are telling how much they ordered and many seem to be in the $500+ range (probably ordered expensive toys to resell). Kind of annoying for those of us who mostly ordered games, since it's unlikely that TRU will just let that kind of thing go by.

I think blaming FW and SD for this is a little knee-jerk.

We have plenty of examples of this among the CAGs here that exploited this to the hilt.

CAG is as guilty for this as other places that "exploited" it.

And frankly, the morality discussions are done in here. We've had enough of it, we have bad apples here like other sites do, and blaming the other sites acting like we're blameless is complete crap. We're as guilty as others, some just are more forthcoming on it.
