Meaning most likely third party companies haven't gotten the details on online gameplay yet. Making reference to Nintendo not handling the online support to third party companies until early next year.
Its not too far fetched to call it BS, nor is it completely believeable. I think the pole needs a 3rd option.

I'll buy it. Sega dropped online play from Virtua Fighter 5 already, I could see them saying something along the lines of "it lags too much for such a subtle game like "Tennis" as a nice line to protect Sony's glitchy online network (which is my guess why they haven't unveiled it yet).

Well, I could understand their reasoning for VF5, but not for this. It stinks, but oh well. It would've been one of the few games I'd play online with the PS3. I got a ton of multiplayer play out of the original Dreamcast version. I played Top Spin online years later and it was ruined by cheaters.

Well Tony Hawk project 8 isn't online for the ps3 either because sony didn't give them the tools to make it online so Virtua tennis not being online would make sense.
