Its a LIE. SONY is really going to price games at $200. Each.

So? N64 cartridges were that price for most of its life span.
I wouldnt be surprised to see a lot of third party developers be around $49.99.
And if the slightly higher prices do effect sales, guess what? They can always lower them.

Sony has not yet come forth and officially made an announcement regarding the pricing of PS3 games--first-party or otherwise. It should also be noted that while the games are priced at a Sony store, they are for pre-orders only and prices could change between now and the game's release.

That's meaningless conjecture. Gamespot's full of shit and they always have been. Independent sources are so much more reliable so I'm still pretty sure that the games will end up being $80.

Maybe we should wait till it comes out and look at the price tag!
But seriously, why does this affect anyone here? Does anyone currently spend $50-60 on a game? It's gotta be something incredibly special for me to drop that kind of money on something.

Exactly. I think I've spent more than $20 on a game maybe twice in the past year. I've learned to be patient. I'd rather play a game 2 years after it's released (or not at all) than pay $60-80 for it.

Only on games I REALLY want. The problem is, a game at $80 will take longer to get to $20 than a game at $60. At anyrate, I refuse to believe anythig until I see the tag. Sure, it's plausible, and in fact I'm willing to place my bets at 85% likely, but I'm not crazy enough to call it certain. And it's not a system preference thing, I like Nintendo most, but I wouldn't be surprised if they started throwing $60 games at me. If games are $59.99, it makes it easier for me to see buying a PS3.

That price is acceptable since its the same as the 360 price. But I think games should stay 50 dollars or less like the Wii.

My guess is that we'll see Sony put out $60 games period with the CE of Tomb Raider: Raiding Rabbits running at $70. This of course doesn't take into consideration downloadable content with all that free Internet Sony is giving us.

What the fuck is up with next-gen game prices?
Not like I ever buy new games anyway, but still...
By the time I get a PS3, all the games I buy for it wont be more than $20 anyway.
