Two quick questions:

1. I am running XP and I want to boot straight to a certain program when I press the power button on my computer. Is there a way to do this? If so, how?

2. I would like an additional press of the power button to power down the computer safely. In order to do this I need to first hit the "Q" button on my keyboard (to exit the above mentioned program to my desktop) and then Start -> Shut Down to power off. Is there a way to tell my computer that when it is on and I press it, to first hit "Q" (wait 3-5 seconds so it exits) and then shut down?

Any help would be great!!

Thanks!!

Your computers BIOS is a program that is given orders threw buttons. IN order for this to work ( In this case for WIndows ) you would have to setup the Msconfig that loads every other "program" to laod that specific program last on the list.

Then there is Task Sceduler programs that will allow you to run any action including opening certain programs.

Now when you load the program and it's running you want to be able to shut down automatically when quitting and then turn off?

In Windows there is a option that allows you to just press the power button
that will allow you to turn off the Computer automatically. This option will also shutdown every other program one by one. The only problem might be when a program may be delayed into shutting down.

Then you can also input a "Shutdown Computer button"
in the program itself. Video Editors have buttons like these. You should look into that. I don't know that much so that it's really.

An easy way to make a program automatically load when windows does is to simply put a shortcut to the program you want to start in the "Startup" folder in the start menu. When ever windows starts it will run whatever is in that folder.
