Just a heads up to everyone wanting the Dawn of War and AoE 3 expansions... wait for Circuit City. Without fail, Circuit City ALWAYS puts PC games expansions at 50 - 60% of their MSRP about two weeks after they come out.

They've done it so far for:

Sims 2 Family Fun Stuff
Sims 2 Glamour Life Stuff
Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World
Civilization IV: Warlords

And probably one or two others I'm forgetting. For games at $30 MSRP they usually go as low as $17.99, which is far better than BB's $24.99 if you can wait a week or two.

It'll be hell waiting for that Dawn of War expansion for myself, but I can tough it out a week or two.

According to EB, the Dawn of war xpak does not require the core game to play. So technically it could be considered a stand alone game and there might not be much of a sale on it later.

AFAIK, the GGC doesn't say that. It works all the time with sale items. However, it DOESN'T work with combined offers, so BB usually doesn't give you a PM and $5 off.

But the Time Card should work, BUT it won't because the Time Card is PC. GGC doesn't work for PC Games. Perhaps an override would work, but that is YMMV.

I don't think this is the faceplate. This faceplate was an 2006 E3 Exclusive and only 500 were made. These babies fetch at least $200 - 300 on ebay. It is a great looking plate but I don't know about that price. Some are also floating around with Cliffy B's (GoW designer) signature.

BLACK is an excellent game with an extremely solid plot and deeply immersive effects, both visual and aural. It took me about eight hours to beat - there are eight levels in the game, and they can take nearly two hours to beat at times. I also went for days without being able to make it through a couple of them. All in all, it's worth $20 - but if you're not sure $20 is worth it, just buy it and beat it that night so you can trade it in to EB/GC or whatever for a relatively high price, it's one of the higher-valued games of last generation.

Weird fact: There is no 'jump'! They still make FPSs without jump?

Yea, this is the first time I've ever seen it discounted too... it would definitely tick me off if I had signed up for a 3 month plan or something with Blizzard, and saw these on sale for $20 a pop.

Hey guys, I checked on CC's website and called their 800 number to check about the Gears Of War faceplate with pre-order and they seem to know nothing about it. Can anyone confirm that this deal is or is not going on? I noticed that the thread in the DVD Deals section puts the date as 10/8-10/14 so maybe it hasn't started yet, but the actual post also says "week of 10/1-10/7". Did Best Buy stores get a memo to be anal about price matching now? I had to push to get Mario Kart: Super Circuit PM'd to CC's $15 ad. They called automatically, and apparently CC hadn't gotten copies in yet, which is amusing.

Unfortunately for them I'm sick so I didn't feel like wasting twenty minutes for nothing and pushed them to give it to me, explaining that it had just been reissued. Ended up getting it, though I don't think they were too happy.

Grabbed the last WoW Time Card at the Carmel Mountain CC, managed to get the advertisement and go over to the Mira Mesa BB to pricematch on more cards.

Here's my CC WoW experience today. I've been considering picking up WoW for a little while, and with the timecard sale, I thought this would be a good chance. So I go to CC today and grab off the shelf the game and 3 timecards. The problem is that the timecards appear to be opened (It was the old cardboard box packaging).

So I bring them to the counter and tell the cashier that I want to buy them but they appear to be opened so I just want to open them and check to see if the cards are in the boxes, so she says "...Well since you've already opened them, i guess it's ok" in a smartass tone. Meanwhile, the "undercover" (read: sticks out like sore thumb) security guy is shadowing me and my fiance as we open them and sure enough all 3 boxes were empty except for the product catalog. So I tell the cashier that I want to buy 3 cards, but these have apparently been stolen and were the last 3. So she offers to check in the back to see if there are any more. As she walks to the back the "undercover" guy stops her to see what the problem was. Jesus, if he had been as far up the ass of the real thieves as he was up our asses, they might have stopped them from being stolen!

So anyway, she comes back and says they don't have any. They won't give me a raincheck, and more *might* come in on Wednesday (Truck day), but they obviously have no frigging clue if that will be the case. So I pass on buying the game for the moment. We leave, but then I get the idea to PM the cards at Wal-Mart and then come back to CC and buy the game.

The only reason I went back to CC was because I had a $10 gift card there, otherwise, I'd never set foot in that dump again. They're consistenly out of stock on advertised items and today that stupid broad basically implied that we had taken the cards out. Then when we told her we were going to pass on the game the first time, she complained that now she had a ton of paperwork to deal with because of the stolen cards. Now that I'm rid of that giftcard I'll probably never shop there again.

So...financially I made out pretty well, though. I got WoW for 10 bucks, and 6 months of play for 60 bucks, plus the free month with the game.

I was going to pick up PGR3, but I am to cheap. I figure, why not pick up 2 3-pack of games at Kmart. Trade them in for about $39 in credit, buy PGR3 used for $22.50 and still have $16.50 in credit.

The BB closest to me has been a real ass about doing PM's to CC recently. The CC nearest to me is an older-style store, as well as a smaller store, so the BB nearest to me always calls to check on items, and half the time, they don't have them. This is especially the case for PC items.

Thankfully, the next closest store is a newer-style CC, and it's within 2 blocks of a newer-style BB. That's usually a better bet.

Almost all the times I have to do PM's off of CC pricing, I buy the items in advance at CC and PM them the next week, which is what I did with SMA2. Same goes for matches for BB pricing, buy it from CC in the week in advance. Though, for the second time running, they almost forgot the additional 10%, when it's in huge print on a huge sign by customer service. :roll:

For me, CC's are always a much easier situation with PM's.

And the Target never marks sales so one never knows...but I didn't have time to track down an employee, get them to unlock the cabinet, and do a price check on a hunch that Baseball might be less than the shelf price. Sigh.

The reason for not wanting to pricematch is probably because best buy knows their prices are higher than circuit city, cc has been having some really good prices on games lately (mario vs dk 2 - 23.99, pokemon mysterious dungeon - 23.99), so much so that it actually makes me want to drive out to the cc here so i can support them and their low prices instead of supporting a certain other store that charges 5$ more than everywhere else most of the time!

That's how it is where I live. Just came back from BB in fact. They pricematched PGR3 for me, though the cashier followed policy to the letter and almost blew it for me. Bless the lazy ass CC employees for not picking up when she tried to confirm stock--it's like the only time I'm happy they don't answer their phones. :P
