I'm kind of in the mood for a good action-RPG. Something like Alundra or Beyond Oasis.
It doesn't matter what system or handheld, I likely already have it.
But please, no turn-based stuff or Zelda.

Radiata Stories.
Best RPG of 2005 IMO.

Just by mentioning Beyond Oasis and Alundra, you're already My Kind of Guy.

But seriously, try something like Shining Force NEO. It's got awful voice acting, and I couldn't begin to tell you what the story is about, the combat is repetitve, the framerate drops when there is a ton of action on screen, and the difficulty can be completely unfair, but besides all that, it's a great game.

Videos of Shining Force Neo look promising. It's now on my Gamefly list.
I'm not too keen on Radiata Stories, though. The previews/videos don't "Wow" me. But I certainly appreciate any suggestions.
I'm especially fond of 2D overhead action-RPG's.

You ever try anything on the Baldur's Gate side of action/RPG? They're pretty darn fun -- especially if you have someone to play co-op with.
The recent Y's isn't bad, though not asounding. Should do the job, though. I suggest you stay FAR away from Shining Tears.

Radiata Stories.
Best RPG of 2005 IMO.
Good game with a great battle system, but god the characters are annoying, and the music is probably the worst I've ever heard in an RPG.

You all pretty just named most of the RPG games I sought for.
Geomon: Mystical Ninja on the N64 is RPG like with it's wide expansive world.
Rivercity Ransoms series is Side Scoller Beat em up but could also be played as a RPG. The whole Downtown series is one big RPG upgrading with various kinds of fighting moves.
Shemue of course.
Bomberman N64, Bomberman Quest GBC, and Bomberman N64 2: The Second Attack is one big RPG put together considering they are puzzle games.
Rockman Dash and Miss Tron series is also great. Explore vast sewer systems upgrade with many weapons and enjoy the cinema.
Like somebody mentioned the Secret Of Mana series is really great to play as a action RPG. I would start from the Gameboy game first.
Alcast and Brainlord is also nice

Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime is short and sweet. I liked it a lot.

If you have a PC I recommend Titan Quest.

Quest 64 FTW
I can never tell if an RPG is action-based or turn-based. I hate turn-based, but I loved KOTOR (1 and 2). Its kind of a cross between the two.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Tales series.
Symphonia for the GC or Legendia for the PS2.

I've always liked the .hack games and Phantasy Star Online - if you wait, updates to both series are coming out soon.

Besides Radiata Stories, Tri-Ace also did Star Ocean (2 & 3) and the Valkyrie Profiles.
