They just keep getting crazier . This time, the new one is from the mouth of a GS manager back from Dallas:

"Each gamestop store will receive an average of 6 systems (more for higher volume stores, less for dead stores). 1-2 systems can be given to employees at the store manager's discretion. The rest are given out to the store's "regulars". If a manager feels he has a customer who is very loyal (shops there often, reserves many things), they call them and ask them if they want to guarantee one of the remaining 4 consoles...and aparently all 4 of the remining consoles are handed out in this fashion."

So, apparently, PS3s will be distributed via Nepotism! That's a new one to me. Better start kissing ass to your local GS managers!

Today's "I heard from a GS/EB employee's version of the PS3 pre-order" topic is brought to you by Reality's Fringe.

It makes sense. If you have a customer who is really into video games and is dropping an assload of cash in the store, you're going to want to hold onto their business, and make sure they don't buy the PS3 someplace else because they may realize "Hey, wow, Best Buy sure beats the hell out of EB, I'm going to start shopping here from now on".

I can imagine the phone call now: "Hi, this is Aeris, from Gamestop, we're calling you to tell you that you have been selected to reserve a {random computer voice} PLAYSTATION 3 [/random computer voice]."

Or if you have Tig Bitties.

That fits with what I posted in the Wii preorder thread yesterday. Though it's seeming as more managers return, they each have their own story. It's going to be frighteningly crazy if each DM actually determines the preorder scenario for their district.

Regardless, I'm long overdue for a visit to my EB.

Today there was a hand-lettered sign on the door at a nearby EB Games that basically said "WE ARE NOT TAKING preorders for the PS3/Wii, SO STOP ASKING"

I heard you have to cut off a testicle and present it to the Game Stop manager on a hamburger bun. Should I start a new thread?
