I'm planning my dorm setup for next year. I'll have a living room, so I'm trying to figure out how to furnish this new space. I picked up a projector to handle BIG screen games and movies. The problem now is creating enough seating to handle a good number of people (maybe 6-8 or so). I get a dinky little couch thing with the room, and I'm required to keep it. I'd like to add a sofa and an armchair at least. Keeping things both cheap (as low price as possible, no more than $150 total) and comfortable is a problem I've run into. These seats are for guests, so I want something comfy but not very expensive.

I've basically given up on trying to find conventional furniture that is this cheap, but I'm open to suggestions.

I've scanned the internet for inflatable furniture. These are awesomely cheap ($70 or so for a complete set), but I worry about slow leaks and balloon squealing noises when people adjust themselves. I've also seen slightly more expensive stuff that has cloth-like flocking and converts from sofa to a mattress/lounge by folding out. Those seem more promising.

Folding camp chairs and couches are also cheap, but I don't think I've seen any that look very comfortable.

Any thoughts or past experience with any of the products I mentioned?
Any other seating ideas?

Just get a whole messload of Pillows, especially larger one, and through them on the floor.

Thanks for your responses. I do know that dorms are really small. Next year I'll have a bedroom and a dedicated living room. Because it won't have any beds or desks, this room can fit about 2 rows of seats.

I like that pillow idea, Pulsar. After I posted, I read the same thing on a dorm furnishing site. If I can find some cheap ones, I'll consider it. Maybe even combine it with some cheap inflatable mattresses for a laid back movie night.

Thuderscope, I think that futons are excellent (laying on one right now) but cost more than I'd like to spend on seating. This is especially true because I already have a bed provided by Housing.

Thanks again.

I have the same type of problem. I was looking for a couch (that hold 2-3 people) to put in my room but I dont have a lot of space or money. I've had bean bags for over a year now and they're dead. I rather have one thing everyone can sit on then a bunch of chairs or whatever all over the place, I dont have the space.

Best (cheap) way to get Pillows is go to a fabric store, by something soft and alot of stuffing. Sew it into a square, stuff it alot, and then sew it up. Homemade comfy seat

If you don't mind thrift stores, I know places like my Good Will have alot of huge, very soft pillows and comfortable pillows. It wouldn't hurt for you to look. Alot of times you can find stuff that looks brand new.

Yeah, go to Thrift stores. Also there may be a surplus store near your school. We have one near here and students get like 30 or 40% off. So you can get a comfy couch for pretty cheap.
