I just recently got an XB so i'm new to the whole DVD thing on it. Do you need drivers as well or anything and if so does this remote include them? Any help would be appreciated
Is that a 3rd party remote? It looks the same as the Microsoft one to me.
And Rocksolid, all you have to do is plug in the IR reciever into a controller port and the Xbox will play DVDs. No drivers or anything, just plug-and-play.

Thanks. And does anyone know how the XB compares to the PS2 is terms of DVD playback (I have the newest PS2 drivers)?
If you have the newer PS2 (series 50001 or something) then I think they're *fairly* close, though the PS2 does have progressive scan. But compared to the old model, the Xbox totally kicks the crap out of the PS2's DVD playback. At least in the old one, the Xbox was more compatable, had MUCH faster seek time, had full fast-forward/rewind with VERY decent speed, and zoom capabilities. I'm not sure how much better the newer PS2 models are though, but I still think the Xbox version will be a little bit better, minus the lack of progressive scan support. I'm pretty sure that even the new PS2s don't have very quick FF/RWD or zoom capabilities.

Will an XBOX play home burnt media? (CD-rs, DVD-r's or VCD's?)
My main DVD player is almost 4 years old now, and won't read any burnt media. Thinking of picking up another, but if the XBOX kit makes it's capable it'd be alot easier. (But don't want to buy the kit if it doesn't)

xbox has progressive scan if you mod your xbox. And it might play burned media on a Samsung drive.

my parents have a sony 400-dvd player in the living room, but i've never had problems with the PS2 besides it doesn't FF and RW very fast.
that said, i'd rather use the Xbox, since my PS2 is old as hell. any one know about this remote?

xbox runs dvds alot faster and smoother than on ps2. Espesialy on the menus. idk if this is for all ps2 but for mine the screen sort of does someing weird during quick transitions
