Out of the 5 DS lites that I have bought, 2 of them had dead pixels and I got those switched out. This doesn't include the one original DS that I had that Nintendo replaced because it had a dead pixel.

I''m guessing my replacement rate is much higher than the overall rate, but it's easy to overlook when Nintendo is so eager to replace them.

(And no, I haven't bought that many DS's for just myself, many of them were gifts for my nieces and one was for my wife)

I just bought a DS and it has one dead pixel. It doesn't bother me too much so I'm debating whether or not I want it fixed.

Whats the turnaround time for Nintendo repairing your system?

Sounds more like a stuck pixel... I have a blue one near the bottom of the touch screen. It doesn't really interfere with games, so I'm not going to bother messing with my DS.

I think it was a little less than two weeks total.

For you, probably around a week. I'm in southern California and I got the shipping label from Washington in two days, and a new DS in another five days.

As far as I can tell, the dead pixel problem seems to be more of an issue with DSLs than regular old DSes.

My first one had a nasty one right in the middle of the touch screen. It was huge (could've been multiple dead pixels). But CC replaced it without any trouble. Luckily, I didn't get it from GS or EB... their return policy sucks ass.

That is more of a stuck pixel. If it is black on any other background then it is dead. I would try the "massage (http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor)" technique to see if it works, otherwise costco has a great return policy.

I only see one tiny pixel thats dead. I think I can live with it.

If the OP bought it from Costco, just exchange it. They have a great return policy.

I bought a blue DS like a year ago from gamecrazy, had 3 dead pixels and they wouldnt exchange it for another one because I had opened it and that's a defective product I had to go through nintendo with. :/

Yeah, stores like GameCrazy, EB and GS won't exchange it unless you have a certain number of dead pixels. It's pretty stupid.

That's stupid they should deal with that stuff themselves. That is what a reciept is for. I bet that is the last time you consider getting a major console from them again.

Stupid policy equals fewer customers.
