View Full Version : Gears Of War Todd McFarlane Influence?
I'm not sure who the team of artists are that worked on Gears of War but does anyone else look at it and think it is inspired by Todd Mcfarlane? The main character just looks to me like something he would draw. Or maybe Stephen Platt. Thoughts?

Yeah, it looks like an early 90's Image Comics game...I don't know if I'd say it's just McFarlane though.
That said, GoW will likely be a lot more satisfying than most of those early Image books...except for Savage Dragon, which rocked fucking ass and still kind of does.

Yeah it does have a very Image look to it. Too bad we never got a Savage Dragon game...that would be sweet.

I hate how everyone appreviates Gears of War to GoW. Everytime I see it, I get confused. GoW = God of War.
Yeah, all the Epic characters (Gears, Unreal, whatever) seem to have a Rob Liefield kind of vibe, perhaps because of their almost disproportionately huge weapons and armor. I could easily see early-90s Cable fitting right in.
Does Platt even still draw comics?

Blood, humor, chicks with big racks doin' it, hilarious characters, God kicking the devil in the nuts and saying "Don't fuck with God," and a fun storyline. Yes please.

Todd McFarlane? Maybe more Jim Lee's Deathblow who was also with Image Comics at the time.
