I was at my Toys R Us today and can confirm that they do carry Devil Summoner (a question many people including myself had asked several pages back) and Disgaea 2 in store. However they don't carry Valkyrie Profile 2 (at least not my store).
My local TRU didn't have Devil Summoner when I checked in so I just ended up picking it a Game Crazy. But luckily for me they did have Valkyrie Profile 2 in stock. And I saw more then a few games that I have been planning to pickup. So I know I'll find a few other games to buy along with VP2.

I thought one of the earlier posts implied that the "select games" was online only, but in-store it wasn't limited. Is that correct OP or others?

That is how it's been the last 3-4 years. Amazon.com always had a fairly good, but limited, selection, and if you tried to order outside of that list it wouldn't work. It was a free-for-all at the stores.

Of course, given how TrU's website has been running lately, I fully expect a buy-1-get-100-free glitch that resorts in another sleepless weekend for the web programming staff and the customer service reps who'll be canceling the orders as soon as they come in.

I've noticed that too, at both of the TRUs I tend to hit up on these sales. And it always seems like the sales people get REALLY suspicious when I go over to eye the glass case, as if I am a freak not looking out on the floor (which, especially during these sales but generally all the time, looks like it was ravaged by a nuclear holocaust).

Yeah, I always go straight to the glass case and it makes them really uncomfortable. I guess they think we're spies for the management. They always ask if I want some help and I'll reply that I'm just looking. Then they usually get really shitty and start telling me how everything that is in the cabinet is on the floor.

Anyone know why they insist on keeping upside down display copies in the glass case? It seems like the case is full of games but when you actually look at it, most of them are upside down or backwards indicating they're out of stock.

Seems like there has been a lot of talk about people trying to take advantage of this deal. B2G1 is a great deal on its own. I can't imagine that corporate woiuld ever consider doing this deal during november b/c of all of the big releases which will help without having to promote a b2g1 sale.

I am torn. Yes I would like to get 2 games that I really want now: SCDA and Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the 360 and return the third game for either GOW, COD3, Rainbow Six Vegas or Viva Pinata but, I do feel like that is cheating the system.

I do really want SCDA and Ultimate Alliance. I would have purchased each game even if there wasn't a sale.

I will probably just buy those two and get a third game free as a bonus.

Any 360 recommendations?

Okay, so I just got the Sunday paper in the ATL area and there was no sign of a TRU ad at all. I called up my local TRU to ask about the deal and he stated that there wasn't anything that he knew of. Not that I can trust the employees or anything, but it's still a little frustrating. Anyone in the ATL area see this ad yet? Does TRU have their ad online?

Yeah, it's my fault his life isn't turning out the way he planned. Me standing there with my hands in my pockets looking at the glass case that has the games he felt was unnecessary to put on the floor was definitely the catalyst that sent him into his disrespectful little tierade.

Trust me, if any of you had heard the tone in this piss ants voice you would have reacted accordingly. And it's not like I yelled at him, I just spoke to him the wasy he was speaking to me. The reason these little pricks have jobs is because management allows this type of behavior.

but with the best buy deal, buy a 360 game get 1600 points for $5, I think I might use that for Ridge Racer instead, especially if I can get the GGC to work with it. OF COURSE NOT. This is very YMMV. For chrissakes, a buy 2 get 1 free deal is a sweet offer by itself. The deal is only for games already available. It's as simple as that. If you get anything more out of it then you are skirting the rules and how they get enforced will be up to the store personnel you deal with. Period.

I have done this deal 4 years running and believe me sometimes its just better to wait a few months when the prices for these new releases plummet. The only time it really works for me is when I pick up something that becomes rare like Disgaea or SMT: Nocturne. I expect this last generation of Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube prices to plummet fairly quickly with the new systems around the corner. Though this deal would appeal to me more for new Xbox 360 games but since I don't have a 360 yet I'm going to stick to red tag clearance games this year.

I have done this deal 4 years running and believe me sometimes its just better to wait a few months when the prices for these new releases plummet. The only time it really works for me is when I pick up something that becomes rare like Disgaea or SMT: Nocturne. I expect this last generation of Xbox, PS2, and Gamecube prices to plummet fairly quickly with the new systems around the corner. Though this deal would appeal to me more for new Xbox 360 games but since I don't have a 360 yet I'm going to stick to red tag clearance games this year.

I want to wait, but for Disgaea I waited, and ended up paying the same anyways. Though I did miss a Craiglist posting for $15 for it. And Devil Summoner will probably drop later like Digital Devil Saga 2, but I might as well get it since I waited on Nocturne and got screwed on that too. $20 games brand new now is a touch better than using the coupon at BB or trying to find them all used at EB/GS, but my room mate is picky about used anyways, so he wants them new, so I will pick up his stuff as I pick out stuff I want.

Not all retailers carry every video game that is released. If TRU doesn't carry it, there is nothing they could do about it, your only option is to go to another store like Best Buy.

They did the price match and I got my third game for $.01 and the other two games at $49.99. I asked for a gift receipt because these games would be a gift for a friend.

After the two games I'm waiting for come out, I'm going to return two of my games to Best Buy (within the 30 day return policy) with my gift receipt and now I've got the games I really want!

I think the music game stuff is VERY YMMV; I tried a couple years ago to get Donkey Konga and some Eyetoy thing (can't remember) and they basically said anything like that is an "accessory" and not a "game", even if it IS the game. (I.e., you need the accessory for the game).

It might depend on the clerk or the specific title; maybe some games are in the system as eligible and some aren't. And every year seems a little different with this sale.

I was a little pissed that they didn't have Devil Summoner because I was in there Friday and they has like 6 empty boxes on the shelf. Turns out they never got the game in and just put out the empty cases by mistake. However I was able to get Valkyrie Profile 2 which they didn't have on the shelf but had plenty of in the case. And Splinter Cell rings up $49.99 so that really made my day, I'm guessing it's B&M because I've seen other posts here about it.

There's a GS right next to my TRU so i went in there and picked up some used PSP games since they were also doing a B2G1.

The PS2 section was untouched but the DS, GBA and 360 section were looking light. They had lots of the New Splinter Cell and Enchanted Arms.

For DS they had many games but no Contact. Lots of Nintendogs, Trauma Center, SOnic Rush, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Point Blank.

Welp, I had some modest success at the B2G1... got Lego Star Wars II, Okami, and Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime. All are games I really wanted and can totally support, so I won't feel burned if LSWII and Okami drop in price soon. Besides, the pickings were so slim, that this was about the best I could do.

The biggest disappointment was no Contact for the DS. I had them scour the security room and check the system... no luck, which is what many of you have discovered. Couldn't get a good read on Touch Detective either... looks doubtful that I'll be able to snag it as part of the sale next week. Oh well. You can't be lucky all the time!

It says it's supposed to apply to all games, but not all the games on the list of games that are supposed to qualify have "Buy 2, get the 3rd free" in their description, and you don't get the discount when you add them to your cart. Baten Kaitos Origins is one of these games :(.

I was a little disappointed, but a big part of it was due to sellouts.

I wanted to do a 3/50 with Valkarie Profile, Mortal Kombat, and then a third game. Since TRU only had Valkarie Profile, it kind of killed that one.

So far, I've gotten Mario vs Donkey Kong 2. Mario Basketball 3 vs 3 and Lego Star Wars 2.

Hopefully, a couple of better options in the $50 range get restocked, or a few more copies of the new MK come in.

I found Socom 3, Ratchet Deadlocked, but they dont have SFAlpha 3 Max (PSP) or Call of Duty 2 (PS2). So i didnt pick anything up today. I saw WTF thats 30, but no SFA Anthology. So, Slime Rocket is 34.99?

I used $50 Geoffrey dollars I got back from my TRU Chase Visa card so it all cost me less than $30 for 6 games. I do have to say that this deal works out great if you have a TRU Visa Card.

I repurchased Makai Kingdom and Wild Arms 4 (I returned them last week) and added Battlefield 2 for PS2, though WA4 was the freebie.

I'm just happy both games were still there and I didn't have much desirable for the under 20 range - it was a toss-up between Battlfield 2 and Black. In all, about $40 which isn't so bad.

It's out, but I doubt they're carrying it. I didn't see Justice League, Family Guy or Mortal Kombat Armageddon for the XBOX at my local TRU & I've seen them at other stores in the area. The guy probably doesn't follow video game release dates, so he wasn't aware of it being out. I did pick up Psychonauts, Operation Flashpoint & Suffering: Ties That Bind (all XBOX) for $17 & change. I plan on going back for XBOX 360 games later in the week. This is on top of getting Marvel Ultimate Alliance w/ free copy of X Men The Official game at Circuit City this week.




I got there at noon to buy Justice League Heroes for Xbox. The clerk said that there was no SKU for the game and that TRU doesn't even carry it. I told him that I know it's out and that he needed to check again. He said, "If I don't see it in the computer, they don't make it!"

Once I figured out that he was probably a 'tard, I picked up Full Auto (360) instead. Some idiot there had put a red tag on it by mistake, so after a few minutes of arguing with the manager and causing a big scene, I got $6 off with the red tag coupon even though it wasn't really red tag, making the total price I paid $23 + tax.

The holiday season is nearly upon us anyway, which means I probably won't be going to Toys R Us much until after it's over. The employees act like they don't have time to help you unless you're a parent who knows absolutely nada about video games and is willing help them to get their protection plan sales up...

I checked a couple of TRU stores here in Michigan, and none of them seemed to have the "rare" (for this sale) games that people have been asking for: Devil Summoner, Summon Knight 2, Contact, Touch detective, etc. I picked up some other games I've been wanting though.

On that note of availability, does any one know when TRU gets their new games in for the week? Wedensday? Thursday? It might be worth going back to check and see if anything new got shipped in, yah?

I went earlier today and found out a couple of interesting things. First, I asked if Guitar Hero could be used for the deal and was told it could. I also saw one employee tell this guy that a six game pack they had could be used in the deal as only one game. Granted, the six game pack was typical garbage but interesting none the less.....

I bought Tiger and Splinter Cell last week at TRU, so if Marvel UA makes it in...I'll just return and rebuy on the spot. I feel your pain, I usually spend at least $100 on this sale but not this year. I got FFXII CE to pick up next week, then to buy the PS3 next month, picked up Mercenaries (Xbox) for $9.98 at Compusa yesterday. So I limited myself to red tag clearance games this year. Finally got The Warriors for Xbox and Trapt. Not so sure I made a good choice with Trapt, but it's like the only time I've ever seen it in a store in my area.

I see that some people are using a 10% off coupon? Where is this coupon, is it in the newspaper. Something having to do with their Deal or No Deal promotion. Can some one post a scan fo the coupon?

Sorry, should have clarified. If you have a TRU Visa card, they mailed out $10 off $25 coupons as part of a settlement of a class action lawsuit.

They used to mail out certificates in $10 increments based on how much you charged on the TRU card. (Now they mail gift cards.) Someone didn't like the way the certificates would distribute the discount over all the items on the receipt and sued. This is still the way they do it now, but I think they explain it better.

Stupid lawsuit and settlement, but it's still $10 off. If any of you have one of these coupons, they expire Nov. 3rd, so this sale is the perfect time to use it.

Apparently Toys R Us has decided not to drop the price of Mario Kart Advance.

I took my girlfriend's little sister up there to get the game, because it's only 20 bucks and better than the new pokemon game. I'm up at the register and it rings up at 34.99. I ask if that's the right price because it's 20 everywhere else and a Nintendo-priced thing. He's like "umm no." Then I ask if I can get a flyer from Best Buy or somewhere and even before I finish my sentence, he cuts me off saying "no we don't do that."

Is there any sort of price-drop guarantee or any way I can get that 15 dollars back? I didn't really want to make a scene there with a nobody from the store with my girlfriend's sister there, but I've got no problem going back and doing it, or talking to a manager about it.
