AFAIK, you need to be a member of the G.A.P.

and IIRC, for demos you just have to be a PSUnderground member. for betas you need to be a G.A.P. member.

Not sure if this is legal/possible, but if anyone who got the beta doesn't want to update to 2.81, would you mind sending the info my way? I'd like to participate.

Yes

EDIT: whoops, late on that one. I was in the Jax X beta and all you have is the disc. Like CaptainCarnage said, it's useless afterwards since most of their demos are online multiplayer demos.

I got the invite last night. Gmail notified me as soon as I received it, and I said I'd do it as soon as I saw it. Luckily, my firmware is already at 2.81, so I didn't have to upgrade it. :)

Hopefully I get it, since this is the PSP game I want most (Ratchet & Clank series owns).

Getting invites to beta test along with free demos is one of the reasons I love Sony so much and why I could never go against them.

The thing I hate about Sony betas is that they really aren't betas because they never(rarely) fix anything. Good marketing but instead of betas they should call it sneak peak or something.

Good marketing but instead of betas they should call it sneak peak or something. It just depends upon the developer. Naughty Dog sure made a ton of changes during the Jak X beta, which I noticed throughout the testing. When I bought the final copy, it was definitely greatly improved online. At least Sony fixes bugs in online games and doesn't release a game like many Xbox 360 publishers do, filled with bugs and constantly needing updates.

Although I admit, I wanted Jak X, but the beta made me want the game 1000X more (ended up being one of my favorite racing games ever).

When I beta tested, Socom 2, 3, FFXI,Everquest, and hot shots golf, there was tons of glitches that made it into the final game. The MMO's I can understand but the Socom bugs really pissed me off.

the email says that you must upgrade to 2.81 in order to access the beta site, but that's not true. i'm on 2.8 and it worked just fine. actually playing the game itself, now that might be a different story.

I believe it's invite only, but they might have changed things since then. I'm really not sure how I got in, I think just registering my PS and PS2, as well as Sony developed/published games was enough for an invite.

To get into the GAP just have a filled out UG profile. They randomly pick people for a useless survey.

I had signed up for Playstation Underground a few months back (registering my PS2 and PSP at the time). I just *today* got an invite to the G.A.P. and signed up. Would have liked to get in on the Ratchet & Clank beta, but maybe I'll get in on the next one.

So, anyway, to confirm Yukine - it does appear to be by invite, still. I have done nothing since signing up a few months back so I'm not sure what triggered my invite. But I guess if you want to get invited just do what I did - sign up for PSU and put in the serial #'s of your PS2 and/or PSP.

Yeah well there are more games in the pipeline. Maybe Konami will have a test for their online portion of MGS: PO. Maybe not... at all.

I got my beta, but sadly, you cannot use devhook to run it. Thank you so much SCEA.

Anyway, I already played the beta twice. I'm liking what I've been playing, although I was a tad disappointed my name could only be 8 characters long currently (final version will be 16, I hear), so I had to stick to the name "TMK". I dislike the soundtrack.

I'm still buying the game on release.
