View Full Version : Should I sell my Red DS?

I like my red DS, because it's kind of special to me. It's my first DS, and it's red. However, the DS lite looks really nice and small, but I can't afford it because I'm only 14 and it's hard for me to get a job. How do you think I should approach this situation? Sell my DS on ebay, or keep it?

I would just keep it. Wait it out until there are other versions of the DS Lite you like or if they make any improvements. For example, the GameBoy Advance underwent so many changes from the SP to the really really bright screen.

I noticed that the DS lite has weaker speakers than the bigger one...or it may just be my ears playing favorites. (Owner of a Blue DS)

I did and don't regret it. I got an onyx ds lite and while I like red more, black is also very nice. My only problem is that it gets fingerprint-y but it's not that bad and the new screens and size more than make up for it.

Gimmick posting for the lose.

Your chances of getting the full value for a Lite is small, but you might get a bit more for a red. Honestly, I'd wait until they put out a nice Lite + game bundle before changing over. You're looking at around $80~ for EBay at most if you go that route.

I'd say to wait for a bundle, but the longer you wait the more the value of that red one will probably drop (it's not really rare or anything).

I sold my red mario kart DS just like two weeks ago on ebay with Metroid Pinball, Polarium, Super Mario 64 DS, and a DS case for about $130 after fees, and I had only paid about $180 for all of that (and I kept Mario Kart DS). I consider it about a $30 loss and that's not half bad.

I'd love to get a DS Lite, but I already own the DS (the Mario Kart edition) and can't really justify selling or trading it and spending more money to replace/upgrade it.

One of my friends chose to keep his reg DS for "guests" or for travel so he won't feel so angry if he were to lose it. That and its a tank compared to the ds lite.

I've been asking myself the same question OP. I too have a red DS, and I've been toying with the idea of selling/trading it towards a DS Lite.
