Are the 'Greatest Hits' or 'Player's Choice' games any different than the original games? I bought Pokemon Fire Red the other day for the GBA and noticed that it was the older box, w/o the Player's Choice ticker across the top. Would the developer have fixed any glitches or have added any updates to the Player's Choice version of the game? Or is it the exact same thing with different packaging?

They just apply a brighter, generally obnoxious color to the packaging to let the world know that the game is a big hit.
I don't know of any instance where anything has been changed from the original, aside from Devil May Cry 3, where the GH version is even labeled as 'Special Edition'. But as far as Nintendo's Players Choice games, I don't know of any that have any differences.

Wow that's odd. Have you tried reinstalling Firefox? I mean removing the program and then deleting any associated directories and registry entries associated with it.
Thanks for the info guys. I guess I'll go ahead and open up my copy of Fire Red then. I intend to collect as many Pokemon as I can and later transfer them to Diamond/Pearl.

Midnight Club 3: Dub Edition Remix and DMC3 are two games that added bonus content for PH/GH status. Expect more to do the same in the future.

Fable added The Lost Chapters when it became a Platinum Hit on Xbox.
they fixed the glitch in metroid prime PC version. Actually a bad thing as you can skip around anymore

I know that the Resident Evil players choice version is different than the regular one. They removed the infinite grenade launcher glitch in the players choice version of the game.

Nothing's different in the PC version of Fire Red, with the exception that it has different packaging and no longer is bundled with the GBA Wireless Adapter.

Sometimes they are.. I know, for example, that the GH version of Silent Hill 2 on the PS2 added extra content (second character/scenario, alternate ending, some other small things). All that was previously only in the Xbox/PC versions.

The GH versions of all the GTA games are later versions of the game than the release versions. No major changes, just bug fixes, except for San Andreas of course.

i think it depends on the game company because most times its basically the same game but recently theres beeen un upswing in companies redoing greatest hits titles and adding new features the most changed of any of them being devil may cry 3. that game got alot of new additions added to it over the original so much so its the better of the 2 games and at a cheaper price.
the only other game i remember changing was the original ratchet and clank. as i recall they had this unlimited bolts trick you could do in the original ratchet and clank that coulndt be pulled off with the rereleased version.
oh yeah and when they did a rerelease of gta san andreas they cut out the hott coffee data and made the zero airplane mission easier.
i think you can find out more on this if you check out gamefaqs.

Sometimes they SHOULD make changes but don't. Morrowind for the Xbox had some really serious bugs. The PH version added a huge amount of content, more than enough to justify its purchase to those who already owned it but they didn't address any of the major bugs.
So that PH version was a must have for fans of the title but could have been much better.
Silent Hill 2 PS2 had better visuals and more content.

Actually, the PH of Morrowind added no new content at all; you're thinking of Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition, a $30 game released months after the PH version hit stores.

I highly recommend the GH version of Gran Turismo 2 over the non-GH version. The non-GH has quite a few bugs, including one that randomly causes the game to freeze up while saving, leading to the save file getting corrupted.
Can't think of any current-gen GH differences that haven't already been mentioned.

Yep... it makes alot of sense from the developer / publisher's standpoint.
How else to get someone who owned a game to buy it again? Re-release it at a low price with extra content. So far, most of the games that have done this have been well worth the extra $20.

I expect next-gen to be rife with double dipping, ala the DVD market.
We've already seen Call of Duty 2: GOTY with extra maps, albeit available for download on Live, and Oblivion SE, the PS3 version, is coming to 360 and PC as well.
if only square enix would do the same. Would love to get the international version of Kingdom Hearts 1+2 and Final Fantasy X/X-2

That's because they fixed the difficulty settings and save system and made it more like the Japanese release.

That should only happen with firefox when you have no area you can actually type in highlighted. If it is doing it to you even when you have a typing cursor you might need to reinstall.

DOA 3 had completely different cover art for the PH version, although I'm not sure if any new content was actually added.
Twisted Metal Black added the online disc.
Mortal Kombat Trilogy for PS1 had a number of bugs addressed in the GH version.

Why would you waste money on the import version of Kingdom Hearts 1 when in the U.S. Kingdom Hearts (the version we got) is the same exact one as Kingdom Hearts Final Mix ( the JPN re-release)?

Not entirely true. Only the first printing run had this problem. I called Sony about 6 weeks after having bought the game when it came out and they sent me a new corrected disc. So not all non-GH printings of GH2 are screwed up, only the ones from it's initial printing.
Twisted Metal Black added the online disc.
Yes and no. The original GH release of TMB was just the game by itself. They didn't start including the TMB:Online disc until a secondary GH run of the game.
