Before anyone jumps on me for not researching this on PSO-WORLD - I have very limited access to the net right now (only at work) and I *did* look but I did not find the answer to this specific question:)

Well thanks to all CAG's who helped us get through some very rough patches in PSO. On reflection, I did have a good time playing it BUT I still am disappointed that I had the same weapon from level 13-25. And that was a saber upgrade from.... a saber. Not too exciting there. Last boss was pretty awesome, though!

So we finally got to Episode 2. Whoa, new layout! I'm excited to check out these allegedly much improved levels. My question is (for anyone that recalls our situation, we are playing two player offline on the Gamecube) can we still continue offline together or do we have to beat the VR missions by ourselves? We see all these transporters but we couldn't enter any of them together. When one of us fired up solo mode we were able to talk to the guy in the lab and get the rather generic (seeming) VR quest...

Any insight? If there is something I was missing on PSO-world, a link would be a sufficient schooling too :)

Thanks guys!

You'll need to clear the two VR stages solo first. Then you'll be able to play them in multi, as well as the levels after that.

Also, please tell me you just mean saber-type, and that you didn't actually use a green saber all of that time. You should have at *least* a brand now, and definately dome different weapon types. Don't limit yourself to one weapon, the quick select menu is there for a reason.

I had the brand (if it's the two blades?) I can't remember right now.. this saber is purple and actually does pretty good damage. i'm just bored of the animation. it's also been digrinded all to hell. everything i've found is a good 40 points less attack. it's been hard for me to tell which is ultimately going to be the best weapon. I guess I can try and sneak a printout from work of the various blade stats. Anything particular I should be looking for>?

hmm. i'm probably doing something wrong. i wouldn't be surprised. thank you for confirming that VR stage question. We've been trying to "beat" each level together first and *then* come back and play it solo to actually clear it.

quick select, eh? we *just* got the instruction booklet. will have to look this up.

Try expirimenting with different weapon types. Attack Power isn't always everything. Go for a long sword-type weapon, and you'll see that you can hit multiple nearby enemies in a single attack. Dagger types will have more strikes in a single combo than saber-types.

ATP just means you'll do more damage on a single hit. Barring any misses, you get three strikes with a saber in a single combo. Depending on your character, the animation for daggers will have 5-6 strikes in a single combo.
The saber may be doing more points of damage per hit, but look at the numbers and compare them--you may end up doing more damage with a full combo with a dagger-type.

Mechguns are also good for this sort of thing, if your ATA is high enough where every other shot is a miss.

The best thing to do is carry a few weapons with you, and switch between them depending on the situation.

Here's an example on that from a while back when I decided to fraps some PSOBB stuff.
