Is that Sims 2 Pets (PC) for $14.99 correct?!?!? I was going to buy it this week for $19.99 after free $10 GC at Best Buy, but waiting a week for $14.99 would be even better! Seems strange that it would be that much lower just a week later.

Circuit City has been doing this with Sims expansions for awhile, marking them at 50% of MSRP shortly after they come out.
I was also going to do the gift card thing at Best Buy but wow... think I'll just go this route. Too bad the new Warhammer or Age of Empires expansion didn't go on sale =/
I might get it at Best Buy and then PM it to $14.99 the next week, but I'm not sure how YMMV that will be.
And wait, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is $9.99 for the PC? Wow, that's insane.

Oh snap, I didn't even see that. I'll just get it there for the 360 and sell X-men 3 on Ebay, I have no interest in that game and it'll take the cost of Ultimate Alliance down.

Thanks for the info on Sims 2 Pets. I was wondering if Best Buy would do the price adjustment on it next week if I purchased it this week to get the free $10 gift card and tried to use their 30-day price match guarantee. Sometimes when they have those free offers and you try to return or adjust, they give you a hard time or won't do it since it was a special offer.

It's worth a shot, either way... the worst they could is subtract the $10 gift card from the MSRP price and they would still owe you $5.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance will probably be $59.98, X-Men will be a penny... that's how they've done all the giveaway's in the past.
Just dump X-Men on Ebay, you'll get at least $20 for it.

Nah, I think PS2. That's why it says, "PS2 Game System."I see. But why does it say it's a $29.99-$39.99 value? Wouldn't that hint that you would be able to pick up the 360 version, since it is actually $39.99?
Roufuss
10-15-2006, 10:04 PM
Nah, I think PS2. That's why it says, "PS2 Game System."
It also says Xbox 360... look carefully:
Marvel Ultimate Alliance >>>> XBOX 360 >>>> $59.99 **** Available 10/25/06 - 5 PM
Marvel Ultimate Alliance >>>> PS2 >>>> $39.99 **** Available 10/25/06 - 5 PM
****Free X-Men: The Offical Game with purchase of Marvel Ultimate Alliance for XBOX 360 / PS2 game systems // While Supplies last // Minimum 3 per store // A $29.99 - $39.99 value
It just has a hyphen there, so it's XBOX 360 / PS2 Game Systems, and it's also why it says $29.99 - $39.99 value.

GRAW for pc worth $9?
I think so, if you are going to play some multiplayer. PC's version(1st person) is totally different from xbox360(3rd person) and the AI is not exactly smart. Make sure your system can run the game though, you need a 512MB video card to have textures on high.

He means a subscription card, such as one for WoW or City Of Heroes/City Of Villians.
whitereflection
10-17-2006, 12:36 PM
No, those are for online PC games that require a monthly subscription, like World of Warcraft ($15/month). A time card (retail price of $30) is good for two months, so two time cards would be $50 with this promotion.

Interesting Live Points deal at Best Buy. I could see picking up one of the $30 games. $25 after GGC, plus $5 for the Xbox Live Points. So, you get the game and 1600 points for $30 plus tax.
Not bad, but not real great, either. You can get the Live Points for $15 after GGC at any time. And if the games are ever on sale for $20, you'll be able to get those for $15, too. So, you'd be paying $30 in that case, as well.
Roufuss

It should work... you're paying for two seperate items. It's like when Best Buy does 2 for $20 DVD's you can return one and get 1 DVD for $10 (when it usually says "DVD's purchased seperately are $14.99 each).
YMMV based on morality? I'm sure people will see this and start harping on you.
But really, it'll show up on your receipt as Kameo being $30 and the Live Points card being $4.99, so yea, I'm about 95% sure it would work.

Expect that it won't work to do GGC + Live points deal. Normally, any other promotion in the register at the same time a GGC is used makes the GGC not work, so they'll have to do a manual price adjustment, which means it'll need manager approval. Ends up in YMMV territory in that case.

If the 1600 Live Points are $19.99, I'm betting that with the example above, Kameo would be $14.99 and the Live Points would be $19.99. They'd deduct the "savings" from the game, not the points. Net cost is the $34.98 that it would be in the ad, though that would prevent you from returning the game and keeping the points.
They've done this in the past for the GC's with purchase, as well as the other freebies. For the X-Men 3 game w/purchase of Marvel Ultimate Alliance, I'd guess the same thing.

For the X-Men 3 game at CC, trust me, it'll show up a penny. During the b1g1 free sale at CC, the free game showed up as a penny, and a penny was taken off your main purchase. Every time I've gotten something free at CC this is how they've done it.
At Best Buy, for DVD sales where it's "Buy a new release for $14.99, get any of these 4 movies for $4.99" the prices are always actually as advertised on the receipt... hell, I even took back the $14.99 movie once because I changed my mind on it and I got to keep the $5 one (regularly $10 or something like that) and they gave me back my full $15.
I would be real surprised if their register went through the trouble of adjusting the prices like this, because it would be a hassle to try and return a game if you wanted to exchange it, plus people would bitch to high hell that "my receipt says my Live points aren't $4.99". Usually their register will choose the most simple option available and that's just taking $14.99 off the Live Points with the purchse of any 360 game.
I'm trusting in the fact that the Live points will show up at $4.99, but it'll be YMMV on the cashier since the deal will probably be listed on the receipt somewhere. I don't have the time or energy to try this out myself, plus I know too many people at the local BB so I don't even want to attempt it.
A GGC would work just fine IF the registers worked as I described and IF the GGC took the price off the 360 game and NOT the live points. I've done a GGC on games where you've gotten a free gift card just fine.

nice...baseball will be mine and i have to pick up hitman soon as well to return to walmart (with receipt;) )
hmm, didnt think about the coupon not working...guess we will just have to wait and see It's listed in the terms of the GGC, that it's not combinable with any other offer. Sale prices, which would be the "normal" price for the sale, that works with the GGC without issue, since it's not modifying the price in any way, it's the price listed in the computer. As soon as you add in another change to the price manually or add in some other auto-generated deal, like this one, the GGC doesn't work. This ends up with a manager on-hand, and it turns it into a YMMV situation if they approve it or not.
That's why I tend to use GGC's on items that are on-sale, since it ends up being painless across the board.

Yea, it is. If only they had some 360 games on sale with this promotion would I actually bite, but it's not worth the effort for me right now.
But the Circuit City thing, no if's there, it's a huge flaw in the way they print out the receipts, and the CSR's at customer service are generally non caring. Me, personally, my X-Men 3 will be on Ebay the minute I get home to help lower the cost of Marvel Ultimate Alliance.
I mean, really, there is no other way they could put it on the receipt though, if they cut the cost in half with X-Men 3 and Marvel Ultimate Alliance people would just be returning X-Men 3 to get $30 or so back. That game must have bombed big time for them to give away a $40 game.
It really all falls into the CSR's hands.

What are the time cards you listed for $19 in the best buy ad???
Do you mean like an xbox live subscription
GAMERS: Save $10 Instantly when you buy any 2 PC games ---- OR ---- any 2 time cards $19 & UP // Must be purchased on the same receipt
None are listed in the ad. It means that if you buy two time cards costing at least $19 each, you'll get a $10 discount of that purchase.

Yea, it's only so-so, since normally at Best Buy you can take a Gamer Gift Card coupon and get $5 off any time during the week.
All the 2 for $30 is doing is making it convient for those that don't have access to the gift card's at their store or don't want to go through the hassle of using it.
I might get God of War and Liberty City Stories, but then again I might hold out for someone to do a 2 for $25 (which I haven't seen in awhile).

For BB's with GGC's in plentiful supply, it's a so-so deal, since anyone can get that deal with two GGC's. The one thing in the 2 for $30's favor is that you don't have to get the two GGC's and you don't have to lock away the money on the gift cards if you decide to return the games.
One little surprise is that some PS2 GH titles at BB are less than $19.99, so that can be a rude shock to get the other game for more than the current retail.
Also, CC has been running promotions with the new GH titles at $14.99 the week after they've gone GH (or two weeks, depends on the promotions), so you can PM them for $14.49 at BB while that's going on. Or much better, if you time it right in when you buy it, such as buying SoTC for $39.99 and then PM'ing it down to $14.99 from CC, though you'd have to time that right.
If they did 2 for $25, then yes, that's a better deal.

Sweet, I'll have to wait to get Lumines Live with this. I have 300 points on my account right now, so I could pick up the skin pack too along with it, all for roughly $5 :)

I think I might forgo the TRU deal. Thats the best birthday gift for me. I want Justice League Heroes, I have games I can trade for that.

For anyone getting marvel Ultimate Alliance I have game-related questions.
I've played Xmen Legends 1 & 2. Both were picked up because I'm a comic-book geek at heart and they're both co-op. Both were traded back in because I found them boring. There are some decent bits where there are a lot of enemies to fight, but I invariably wind up going through levels waiting for more enemies to show... and they don't. It's fun for a bit but in the end as I say, I found them both more tedius than enjoyable.
Now that said, can anyone who's played either Xmen Legends 1 or 2 compare Marvel UA? Is it worth my getting, or will I be bored with too few enemies again?
I know most dungeon crawlers have this symptom... you hit a bunch of enemies then you wander around a bit, then some more enemies, then wandering again for a while... but with the Xmen titles I just found myself waiting for enemies more than anything else.
Thanks for any helfpul input and back to the sale.

A promotion like this is the "other deals and promotions" that auto-invalidates the use of the GGC at the register.
There isn't a special order to get them rung up in to get them to work, the only way you can get it to work is to have a cashier get a manager to manually adjust the price downwards and not have them tell you it wouldn't work because of the "other deals" clause on the GGC.
YMMV for certain.

Does anyone know the possibility of getting the $10 of two PC games to work with price matching Sims 2 Pets? Possibly if the discount were applied to the other game and then a price adjustment was gotten later?
I had a somewhat similar situation - bought Sims 2 Pets PC last week at Best Buy when it came with the $10 gift card. Receipt shows $29.99 paid for Sims 2, $0 paid for $10 gift card. I went to price match Circuit City today for $14.99.
Receipt from price match shows the following:
Return:
Sims 2: Pets 19.99-
Reg 29.99 with 10.00 off
Sale:
Sims 2:Pets 13.49
Matched 14.99 Reg 24.99
So what happened was even though my receipt didn't show a discount on the Sims 2: Pets when I bought it, it remembered it was part of a package. It treated it as only having paid $19.99, so it adjusted $19.99 down to $14.99. It appears that it didn't quite get the extra 10% right though, and instead took the extra 10% from the original price to the price match price (($29.99 - $14.99) * 10%), giving me an extra $1.50 back, instead of what I would have expected (($19.99 - $14.99) * 10%) = $.50.

Using the GGC in addition to the $5 1600 points card offer is definately YMMV but I did get it to work today at store 217 in Colorado.
During my transaction the cashier scanned the game (Kameo), the GGC, then the 1600 points card.
When she hit enter the system took the $5 off the game for the GGC but left the 1600 point card at $19.99. At that point I showed her the ad showing the $4.99 price for the points card with the purchase of any 360 title and she had a supervisor over-ride it for me.

I did this, and they originally told me they weren't going to price adjust it since I got the gift card, but I told them even after you factor out the gift card I still paid $20 for the game, so the CSR went ahead and gave me $5.30 or so back.
It's no big deal, I had already used the gift card so I saved $10 somewhere else.

I'm picking up FEAR EP and doubtlessly something else since there's a ton coming out, but all I have to do is buy 2 PC games that are at least $20?Would it be possible to slap on the GGC along with this PC deal for an additional $5 off?

I suspect not.

I would like to know if any of you can tell me if there is any chance of buying Marvel Ultimate Alliance at Circuit City using the 15% diScount coupon that came in last month on PSM and XOM, and still be able to get the Xmen-3 for Free?????

YES.
OR two time cards worth at least $19 each.
Damn... still sounds too good to be true. Needless to say, I'll be buying some PC games this week.
Woulda been nice next week though since it'd cover Splinter Cell DA and Neverwinter Nights 2... oh well.

What time does CC usually get it's new releases? I know they usually say 5pm but a few times I went to stores past mid day and they had the games already. Just dont want to miss free copy of Xmen with Marvel.

They get their games whenever FedEx delivers them. Yesterday they told me they might not have Ultimate Alliance until 5pm, but I called them today and they had gotten them at 9am.
I picked up a copy of Ultimate Alliance w/ free X-Men for the 360, and had them pricematch Best Buy's $5 1600 points deal, so I got the 1600 points, too.
FYI, Ultimate Alliance shows up as $20 on the receipt and X-Men shows up as $39.99.

I picked up Marvel:UA and X-Men this morning at CC do you think if I go back with the receipt and the BB ad I get a set of points price matched? Also, do you think I could go to any CC to do this or just the CC I bought the games at?

For all you guys out there that want to PM the Marvel/Xmen deal 2 BB, I Can confirm that it is possible. I did it with the ps2 versions. Just bring the CC ad in and let them spend like 3 mins looking at it (people are slow), then a manager will come over to do the overwrite. There should be no probs with the ad, although I wont be surprised if some CAGs struggle with this deal at BB.

I haven't had any problem with getting CC to match the $5 points deal. They did it without any question with a random game at the customer service desk. And then they did without a problem right at one of the normal checkout desks in the video game section when I bought Marvel:UA/X-Men.
If I were you, I'd try just rebuying a copy of Marvel/X-Men (if they're in stock) and have them pricematch the $5 points. Then return the original games. If they're not in stock, then you can go through the hassle of getting them to back match the deal.

I bought FEAR Extraction point and Call of Cthulhu today at Best Buy.
I don't know if anyone realized this but the $10 off 2 PC games, IS $10 OFF EACH GAME. I got both games for $25 + tax, (Fear 25-10=15, Call Of Cthulhu 20-10=10)

I picked up Marvel Ultimate Alliance, X-Men 3: The Official Game, and the 1600 Marketplace Points card. Usually the best time to PM is within the last hour of the day where there would be only 2 cash registers open (sometimes one). I had both the BB ad and CC ad in hand just in case, but everything worked flawlessly. The cashier scanned MUA first, then I showed her the CC ad, and in turn she phoned a manager over for the override. She just glanced at it, read the fine print, and it came out to .01. Then I had her scan the points which rang up 19.99, but after everything was scanned and she hit ENTER it came up as $4.99 with a $15 off promo. I was going to try the GGC, but I figured I was lucky enough so I didn't push it. Besides, there was a long line of angry customers behind me since that was the only register open.8-)
Here's a copy of my receipt (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v433/Phisticuffs/BBCCdeal.jpg) to help you guys out. I'm probably just going to trade in X-Men unless anyone wants to buy it off me. I hope EB is still doing the 30% extra trade-in credit towards the reservation of a PS3; did anyone else get this phone call last week?

MSDMONEY, you got 10.00 off each game? Was that at the store or online? Online it's only 5 bucks off each one.

In store. I'm not sure if this is YMMV or not, but I don't think the cashier did anything special, I even saw the promo pop up and all she did was click ok. She definitely didn't do an overide or input anything manually. It is odd that it would ring up differently online than in store.

BTW - The "exclusive codes" to unlock Daredevil and Silver Surfer are at Gamefaqs.com
Xbox360: http://www.gamefaqs.com/console/xbox360/code/932586.html
They are basically the same code for all systems.

YMMV Marvel Ultimate Alliance for the XBox 360 for $20 + tax
Here is a YMMV way to get Marvel fo $20. Requires a little work, but I have done it.
1st buy the Marvel and X-Men package at CC. The receipt should show Marvel for $20 and X-Men for 39.99 (at least it did in Houston on Wed). You can not return X-Men at CC since the reciept does list them as a promo package. (Return the games at another convient time, just keep the original receipt.)
So head on over to BB, pick up both games and a 360 point card (not two since you will be returning X-Men). Show the cashier the CC receipt and ask them if they will match the prices. Tell them how you prefer to purchase at BB due to Rewards bla bla bla. They should price match Marvel since you are buying both games as listed on the receipt - of course this is the YMMV part. Then at a later date return X-Men - which should work OK since there is no linking between the two games on the BB receipt. My only real YMMV part is if I can keep the 4.99 point card without them complainging that I can not get both the Price match and the point card discount.
********
Important - you have to purchase Marvel and X-Men tomorow, Sat. Oct 28 to get the receipt that shows the $20 price on Marvel (again YMMV if CC has changes the prices on the promo)

my friend did the same thing today, got roller coaster tycoon 3 ($20) and C&C decade collection ($30) and the total was $31.xx after tax, cashier didn't do anything special, just rang them in.

I just wanted to thank the people discussing the FEAR snafu/discount. I would have never guessed it was only $30 to get the game and expansion based on the flier. I bet that game doesnt reach that price for another 6 months or more...
Thanks!

In the CC weekly ads for 10/22-10/28 they had a deal for pre-purchasing Call of Duty 3. If you pre-ordered it, you got a free hat... Could someone tell me what console their pre-purchase with hat offer was for? I can't find last weeks circular anywhere around the house
Thanks a bunch!
*hugs*
