So, I tried to run this game (ROSE Online), which ran fine last year, and I get the ever-popular blue screen of doom. ***STOP 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, [string] [string] 0x000000C). I've been told that this is because of a stuck kernel. I was using driver 81.17 (something with 8x.xx) at the time. So then I updated to the "beta" forceware: 9x.xx. Sorry for not being able to give exact driver. Still got a blue screen crash. So then I uninstalled the driver, removed the card, cleaned it out, placed it back in, made sure the fan was running the right way, removed the old driver registries, and reinstsalled the beta forceware. Still errored.

Any hints on what to do? Is this indeed a graphics card error? I can't test if it is or isn't because I have no other graphics cards....

Thanks in advance,
Romanian

Death, doom. Potato po-tah-to.

XP, the "normal" edition (84x? Not 64x.). Ti 4200 nVidia video card. 512mb RAM. I meet all recommended requirements for the game.

The blue screen of death is usually from bad software.. not hardware. See if you can find an error code and look it up on Google.

But I'm with iheartmetal, I haven't gotten a BSOD in a few years, since WinME.

I get BSOD when i start firefox to fast after windows starts. Its a treat.

YOu know with those kernel errors, its almost impossible to figure it out... So guess what the next step is...

Come on..

yeah... re install windows... thats what they always say...

Or you can look at random numbers on google with a hope of finding something useful.

Nah, all of the Google results contain these problems while people install XP... I'm gonna build myself a new computer anyways. Oh well, Star Wars Battlefront II is fun enough (hellishly fun multiplayer!).

Thanks anyways.
