I am almost positive GameCrazy will fix it for $1, or maybe even free.

Not sure if they'll charge for a $1. I've always paid $5 for them to resurface 4 games. They won't do it for free(unless you buy a MVP card).

I'm not too sure. It could just be a cheap disc resurfacing machine

If the game already won't work properly now, it probably doesn't hurt to try it for (as some people said) a buck.

in the strictest sense, no one can be sure that they'll "really FIX it". there are absolutely no guarantees with any disc resurface or repair method/service. Gamecrazy uses an "industrial strength" disc resurfacing tool, similar to the type you buy at Best Buy to fix your own discs. it seems to perform pretty well, and will leave faint swirl-marks on the fiinished disc, if that matters to you. there are other companies (some online) that use other methods to restore discs to a more "factory fresh" condition, but again, they aren't guaranteed. it really depends on how deep the scratches on your disc are, as well as where they are.

if the disc has faint or reasonably shallow scratches or scuffs, GC will likely be able to restore the disc to 100% playable condition. take it down there and give them a try. if your disc is really hosed, you might still try them, but don't expect a miracle.

Hold the disc in front of a light. If you can see any light through the scratches the disc is FUBAR and not worth trying to repair.

No, it doesn't have to be a game you bought from GC. They're not going to be biased and turn you down if you bought it at EB or GS. They don't care where the disc came from, they just want the money to fix them.

I've had good luck with the stuff from http://cdrepair.com . I've never had any like super mega needs a zamboni machine scratches (if that's the case a professional repair/polishing tool is probably your best bet), but for the couple cd's I've had that doesn't play it's been great.
