Hello, I am looking to buy a G router for Wii-- now I wonder, if I get a speedier 108 mbps router, will I be able to take advantage with that for Wii or for those type of routers, do you need a desiginated PC card to go above 54 mbs? Since I only need this for Wii, should I just go for a 54mbps router?
I've only really looked into routers in the last few days, so sorry if I sound like a bit of a noob. I appreciate any help anyone can give!
Just go for a standard G router. "Faster" wireless routers rely on proprietary solutions (only work with their own hardware) or Pre-N hardware. 802.11N will be the new wireless standard and is faster, but hasn't been finalized yet. These pre-N routers may have interoperability problems and may not even be upgradeable to the final N standard when it becomes available.
I don't know specifically about the Wii, but I suspect it will either be B or G, so you're wasting your money by getting a faster router.

Oooh, I see, It'll be G-- I'll also be using it for DS, but that's only B. I thank you very much for your time-- it'll make the router hunt a little easier and cheaper.
