Anyone know offhand? If so I may swing by after work and dump a few things.

edit: probably not the right forum for this on second thought, sorry.

If the question still needs to be answered. It's yes. Just not a common thought to trade DVDs at a game store I guess.

Same here, although the employee sighed when seeing them since they have 3 bins of the 3 for $10 DVD deal already filled.

Are the trade in values as terrible as they are for games? I've got a few I wouldn't mind unloading.

Not if it's not any of those $1 DVDs, I got $.75 for those when I traded those in(register as generic DVDs). But I've never received more than $3 for a DVD, although the box sets probably net more(although you probably get crap for those too).

Actually, my DVD's got me more credit each than most of the games I traded in, which is a good thing, and yet a sad thing at the same time.

From the way things were explained to me, the DVDs that EBGS sells only have one of three price points: 5.99, 9.99 or 12.99 (sets probably have a higher price, but I'm talking singles), so trade in values are something like: 75¢, 1.50 or $3.00.

I went to trade in some Disney masterpiece DVDs that I never watch and the value was so low I just laughed. That's when they explained the pricing which returns the trade in value. And that I should bring them to BlockBuster.

I did. What would have gotten me about $12 at EB got me around $81 at BB.

Yeah, that's why they have those racks of DVDs next to the new DVDs stated "previously viewed". Those are nothing but DVDs people traded in(mine keep the Blockbuster copies seperate from those).

Hmmm... Interesting. It might be time to thin out the movie collection. Do they net you cash or credit?

Much like Game Crazy, they only give out store credit.

Does anyone know the min values at say Gamecrazy or Block Buster? I know ayear or two ago BB ran a min value of $5 per dvd and i traded in a bunch.. Does it vary now or does Hollywood and BB offer a min value of say $2 or $3?

I always just figured that those were former rentals and once the demand for the movie died down, they sold off surplus copies. Do they take TV series box sets and stuff? I haven't been to a Blockbuster in ages, so I can't recall what all they sold.

The store credit thing kinda kills it for me since I practically never go there, but it's something to consider.

Don't know, the only TV box sets I've seen there are new ones and they keep those in a locked glass case.

Minimum value at EB/GS is 75 cents a movie, even if it's not in their system. I have heard that the minimum value for a DVD at Blockbuster is $3.00, but it has to be in their system and I guess they won't take a lot of older movies. I haven't bothered to test this as I can do better than $3 selling/trading them online. If they ever do a $5 promotion again (doubtful considering they now sell used DVDs a lot cheaper than they used to, including 4/$20 sales), I might take in a big stack and trade them for some games. It would be pretty sweet if the $5 trade-in price came back to Blockbuster while EB/GS was haveing a buy 2 get 1 free sale combined with their 3/$10 DVDs, which means each DVD costs you $2. $100 would get you 50 random DVDs from EB/GS, which would net you $250 store credit at Blockbuster/Gamerush. I would abuse that so bad I'd have $2,000 store credit saved up by the time the promo ended.
