Months back, I remember hearing about Final Fantasy 5 and 6 being ported for the Gameboy Advance. I remember a "November" release was given. I went to the Gamestop website, and they only have Final Fantasy 5 coming out next month. Nothing on 6. :(
Checked all around the internet..and.. nothing. So, what happened? Is it NOT coming out, or is it just a delay?

I know the release is very close in Japan - 5 just cameout two weeks ago, and 6 will be out in November.
Between FFIIIDS, FFXII, and FFV:A, I guess someone noticed that we're doing just fine with RPGs. It'll still come out, but I dunno when. March?

I can live with that answer. Kinda glad in a way, because we DO have lots coming out already (Not JUST talking about the RPGs)

I saw March listed as a release date within the past week, but for the life of me I can't remember where...

Initial release was in December, but that was always a place holder. Not that it can't come out then, but I'd wager more likely an early 07 release.

I'm glad Square decided to release some GOOD ports of the games.
Maybe now we'll get a decent port of Chrono Trigger.

Well, they've got V coming out on GBA and III coming out on DS in the same month so it would make sense to bump VI back a little bit so it doesn't get lost among all the new stuff this fall.

Hell VI would probably outsell 3 and 5 put togethor. Easily the best final fantasy game to date and by far one of the best RPG's of its era.

While we are talking about crazy sales imagine if they made a compilation of Chrono Trigger and Super Mario RPG for GBA. Imagine how THAT would sell.

QFT once again. At least two dozen of my friends who still don't have a GBA or DS (since they don't have the money or they're just casual gamers or whatnot) would immediately throw down anything and everything for a portable CT or SMRPG, let alone FF6.

It's kind of funny that Chrono Trigger and SMRPG are perfect fits for a portable system, yet we haven't seen them... I'd much rather have either of those than FFIV or FFV.

They should release SMRPG on the DS and 'tighten up the graphics' a bit and it would not only be awesome but it would sell like hotcakes.

Actually they could just release it with the same exact graphics and it would be awesome.

I wonder how many people are going to buy FF3 DS for themselves or for others, and get home and think they are about to boot up FF6.
YOU KNOW ITS GOING TO HAPPEN.

They need stickers for the game box. Something like the purple facade/moogle from the SNES FFIII Box, with a star on it proclaiming "YOU WANT THIS ONE, DUMBASS!"

But yeah, sometime next year, and I can't wait. FFVI is one of the best games I have ever played, ever.

Square-Enix has launched the Japanese FFVI site (http://www.square-enix.co.jp/ff6/).
There are some screenshots and character info, but very little English is used on the site.
At least shows that the game is close to being complete in Japan.

If you buy the Japanese V and VI, and mail in two box labels (on the inside of the box), you get a free slipcase with the Advance series soundtracks! Nice!

Lovely for them, but like the FF Tactics Advance special edition set and the Mother 3 set, it's just another thing that makes me hate and envy those lucky bastards half a world away.

There is so much truth in this thread that it needs to be quoted.
I also would love to see a SNES Square-Enix RPG DS Compilation. Keep away from the Final Fantasy games though and give us a few things we haven't seen in a while with both the original game and a revamped version. (Secret of Evermore/Mana compilation for #1, Chrono Trigger/Super Mario RPG for #2).

Posts made very little sense when I thought that.

By adding in bonus features without losing anything in terms of graphics or sound (as in, none of the slowdown that we saw in FFIV.) I'd want to see extra dungeons added in...

After looking at the site Terra Branford name is Tina Branford, I hope to God that they don't change Terra's name to Tina.

it's just another thing that makes me hate and envy those lucky bastards half a world away.everyone says this but you'd sing a different tune if you were having to pay $50 for FF1+2. and even if you were there'd be no way that price would be viable in the US. you get 200,000 americans together to each pay $50 for a GBA rerelease game, then you'll probably get what the japanese get as far as extras.

I couldn't tell you I have only played FFIII on SNES, I haven't played the PSX or JP version.

Or higher. Most of the special edition sets are hugely more expensive then the original games.

Hell, FFV better be "Butz", or I'll be disappointed, and I've only emu'd that one.
And I get what you're saying about it being "better" than the SNES game, I just thought you were implying that it was ported or developed poorly and it made no sense.

Who cares if they changed the name from Terra to Tina? You can just RENAME THE CHARACTER! And if you don't like it the first time then you can get a RENAME CARD! Every place I've seen this discussed there is always some people bitching about the name change. Seriously, is there a requirement that people must be idiots in order to be Final Fantasy fans? That would explain alot actually.

of course it will happen. they should should abandon the numbers entirely, and just call them "final fantasy: cloud stryffe", final fantasy: terra, locke and celes" etc or something along those lines, at least for the re releases, that would eliminate all of the confusion.

Who cares if they changed the name from Terra to Tina.
spoilers i guess
it makes a lot of sense when maudin and terra's mother name the baby "Terra" and say "not bad" because terra's mother is a human, from earth(i.e. Terrafirma) and not from the esper world. so the name makes perfect sense.
Ted Woolsey, who did the localization for ff3 made a lot of these kinds of changes, made a lot of changes to kefka's dialogue and turned him into one of video games classic villains, he is very bland and generic in the japanese version. Final fantasy 3 was nothing special in japan, just a generic game with bland vanilla characters and the story isnt compelling. just my 2 cents.

Calm down, what is worse someone semi-caring about a name change or someone going schizo about someone semi-caring about a name change? I'm sorry if my idiot self is not as smart as you to have discussed the name change at other places. It was news to me that Terra's name was originally "Tina?".
