Now we all have heard of this game being the last N64 game and all made by Treasure the maker of the grand Gunstar Hereos series. So here is the low down.

You will expect from what Treasure has done in the past previously again and again. You could call this game Gunstar Heroes 3d, More Gaurdian Hereos, and even Gunstar Heroes 4 the fact that Go Go Trouble Makers and Silhouette Mirage came before this. Also to my best knowledge this is probably the first real 3d Gunstar Heroes game.

This game is a 2d shooter that takes place in a 3d world like Kirby the Crystal Shards and Killer 7.

The whole setup of this game takes place in a faked out 3d world you normaly would see in games like Animal Attack or the more famous Space Harrier. Again later 3d games like Starfox, Crash Bandicoot, and Resident Evil 4 uses the same method of drawing attention to the character and surroundings besides asking questions like am I able to explore there or whats beyond the jungle floor.

This game is divided into four parts. The feilds, The city, The Armarda, and the train along with the grand final Earth stage.

The feilds, the intro level, and the over all game will remind you of Animal Attack the NES which is the overall theme of this game.

The City is necely done considering the same with Evangelion eventually gets destroyed and you enter a Akira, Evangelion, Power Rangers like battle senario.

Later in the game you return to another part of Japan which is still the city but now your in a forest area which is side scrolling and you are allowed minimal movement along with the Rockman run run or else the dragon is going to brun you stage.

The Armarda is clearly taken from Gaurdian Hereos flying around on a piece of scrap. The earlier Armarda level is your basic shooter senario with the annoying cute character, chase scene, and face off with the General. At the end of this area Saki the main character is stuck in his Megaziod like state and off couse America launches there nukes at him where you have to disable it.
About the Armaarda they use the term "Voluneter" where I will guess they are refering to Japanese volunteray troops which is one big rip-off the Navy.

The train stage reminds me of the movie passenger 2047( I forget the name so correct me here ) alot where you enter the mind of Saki and Airan where you get a hint that Airan is pregnant and Saki might be the new dark vador/Hell Boy/666.

The final stage is a face off in space like with the game Star Soildier. In this case you enter a Space invaders like battle with Earth.

Threwout the game until the end you will find out Achi is a key character in this game being looked upon as a god or prophet with her face on the Wanabee Time Magazine on the floor in the intro.

Lastly the basic scientific details.

Graphics. If you played Perfect Dark and Mystical Ninja then this is what you will be gatting with a dash of Evangelion. Some things are 2d but only to a limit where most effects are done in 3d.

Sound. Nothing wrong with the sound and in fact this game is in english. While the music is okay for most shooters. Nothing is bad all is good.

Gameplay. Fabulous use your gun/sword in combonations with easy controls where you are given the choice of using one side of the N64 controller. You can lock on the enemies which reduces atk power. Dodge with double left or right and double jumpo with double R or L shoulder pads. As I described before really done game.

How long will it last. Well if your eyes is to tuned into the Super 3d graphics of GCN games like RE4 this game will make you wonder if was worth it but after really getting into it this game is worth it. Again since the game has a really intresting story and is short seeing how there is only four areas. If you are replaying Beyond good and Evil or Killer 7 like game then this game will last as long as a really good hyped movie. If you are not shooter freindly don't wprry the game has a tutorial that will allow you to learn the basics. So far I have not gotten bored of the game but I tend to get tired after holding that trigger key.

My score 10.0 while the game is short the Blockbuster atmosphere is what keeps me coming back.

What? Do you have any questions about the review or game?

You're describing Killer 7 as a 2d shooter in a 3d world?

killer 7 is a adventure game that would and couldundoubthfully be ported into a 2d world without any major changes.

On the scale of a a shooter and if you do enjoy shooters then Killer7 is up your alley. 75% of the time you are shooting something while 15% of the time you are moving from area A to area B and 5% of the time you are talking or sloving puzzles. Killer7 is not a pure shooter since the levels are eqaully divided up and you can aviod shooting obsticles for a long amount of time.

In short Killer7 is a 2D adventure game in a 3d world. Why? the fact in all 2D games is limited to the 2d path that is given as with Super Smash Brothers you are unable to jump into the background like you can with Rival Schools or Mace the darkage.

Glass Soldier/Sin and Punishment is really Gunstar hereos. Like with Killer7 or any 2d game your on a 2d path where the rules of 3d is limited or does not apply.

When it comes to games like Super Mario brothers, Ninja Gaiden, Rockman, or even Sonic which are 2d games you want to get that same 2d feeling but in a 3d world Sin and Punishment, Killer7, and Kirby The crystal Shards is your answer.

However some 2d games is already in a 3d world like Bomberman, Mystical Ninja, and Zelda. So porting these to 3d would be no problemo.

A good example would be the case with Geomon where the game was in a 3d world from the start but how to deliver was a bigger question since the game was not fully 3d.

In short even if Sin and Punishment was in 2d the over all game would have not changed one bit.

Do you think that Super Mario 64 or Bubsy 3D could be 2D games, RegalSin?

I'm not getting this whole "2D in a 3D world" thing. I understand the Rival Schools vs. Smash Brothers analogy, but not for the shooters. I mean, I think you're essentially saying that side scrollers can be 1D, aren't you?

Well if you look at Mother3/EarthBound 3 they easily converted the game down to a 2d level so yes but you will lose the whole enviormental aspect of 3d. Then again yes you can mimic Mario flying around and getting shot from a cannon from 3d to 2d.

OKay I am not going to say alot but....if you take Ninja Gaiden the 2d game and put the game into a 3d world you would still have a set path. However the New Ninja Gaiden 3d deos not have a Set path and allows you to freely explore the area.
