Got this in my email this morning.

EGM: https://www.valuemags.com/freeoffer/egmvm.asp

They keep givin' them, I keep takin' them.

BONUS! After you fill out for EGM it gives you links for free subs to Games for Windows and Boating Life. If there's 2 things most of us have in common it's games and our love of watercraft.

Tried to get another sub, why not. I got a letter from Maxim the other day, turns out my free sub from FSM knows when, as I've got it for *years* free, is going to last until 2012, as it said they denied a 48 month extension as it goes past the 5 year limit now. *shrugs* I wonder what company tried to tack 48 months on?

It's not an automatic renewal, they're asking you if you want to or not. If you don't want to renew (and pay), then just ignore it and let your subscription expire.

What's funny is that my friend has Maxim already through like 2013 from free mag subs. He also had several years of Stuff still left. So, Maxim sent him FOUR envelopes on the same day all trying to add his Stuff remainder to his Maxim. They went from like 48 months down to 36, to 12 to 6, or some combination like that, but said that they couldn't be added. His Maxim sub was too long.

Maxim has a limit now on how many years you can be subscribed. It's 5 years. FYI.

Playboy you won't find and Maxim, Stuff and FHM while there are tons of free magazine offers you usually have to participate in some form of promotional trial offer. You could get them for free, but after a few days, you'd have to cancel 10 different free trials of other things. If you want that look back in this thread a page or two.

Man you two need to communicate better. My ultimate goal in life is to get my girlfriend to watch porn with me everday. Which she has only done maybe 4 times in the nearly six years we've been together. She doesn't mind if I have it, though. For some reason I don't think many girls do.

Mine took about a month to kick in, and I am receiving mine. Though I realize now that I don't really watch TV and don't like the articles in the magazine, so I'm feeling kind of guilty about the poor sad crying trees. Maybe I should make pants out of the magazines so they 're not going straight into the recycling.

Same here, but when it did, i get them every week, so it is nice to have something to look foreward to.

and if you don't like the magazine, you could always pass it on to a friend or something.

Can anyone give tips on what industry settings I should use to get the magazines I'm looking for on Mercury Magazines or FreeBizMags? 99% of the time the magazine I select and the magazines that are offered to me after I select the industry information during registration are never the same.

More specifically, I'm looking for Electronic Gaming Monthly, Games for Windows, Tips & Tricks, etc...

My girlfriend is a teacher but can never get the parenting/kids mags she is looking for either.

Thanks! :)

Your industry settings really shouldn't matter. If the magazine you thought you were getting doesn't show up, it usually means the offer is dead. Slickdeals has a pretty good post on Mercury Magazines, but I'm too lazy to look for it.

Well I should have got my last issue a few months ago and they keep sending me it. Not only this but they called my house 6 damn times and they knew all my real information and keeped asking if I wanted to renew the mag for a lot more money then the normal cost. I made it quite clear and made sure they knew I had no interest in renewing with this third party.

Yet I keep getting them. I swear I am not giving them a dime.

You should be fine if you have never received a bill. Magazines tend to let supscriptions run long so they can report higher circulation numbers to advertisers.

There's a trick for Canadians getting the free magazine offers. What you do is sign up using an American Address (I use my parents address because they live in the US, but other people just pick any address) Then all you have to do is go online to the magazines website and change the subscription address to your real Canadian address.

Works every time! :)

I have a question about mercurymagazines.com and freebizmag.com. I was on my way to sign up for Spin magazine. It asks you for job information. So if you want certain magazines to be offered free, do you need to enter the type of job most similar to the magazines you think they would offer for it?

Does that make sense?

Yeah, that's basically it. It asks you for job information to make sure you qualify for the offer. It just depends on what jobs they have set up for it.

So, It's basically a guessing game. I tried to get a sub to GIANT magazine, but when I put in my job information, all I got was some business marketing magazine. How are all you other guys getting the free SPIN magazine offers and such? Is there a trick to it?

And once you enter your information on freebizmag.com, can you try other offers, or does it already have your job information set in stone? If so, I guess I can't do any of the other offers that come up for freebizmag.com.

The Giant offer was dead. It really doesn't matter for the most part what you put as your occupation. It used to be that Student/Student was a catch-all, but now it seems like anything in Entertainment, Communications or Computers allows access to the offer. If the magazine you wanted doesn't show up, maybe try a different profession once, but I wouldn't waste too much time, as it usually means it's no longer available to anyone.

You can try as many offers as you want on freebizmag. If the url is different, you can even complete multiple offers for the same magazine. I'm currently getting 5 or 6 magazines from freebizmag offers.

Oh, I am a cheapass. :)

Still, the price of a sub is cheaper than buying them at the newstand. I should have grabbed her a subscription for Xmas...but that's a lame present for an Xmas present. Practical, reasonable, but saying on Christmas morning that she should start receiving one of her new presents in 6-10 weeks isn't exactly ideal.

The sad thing is, I have an issue from 1998. It has hundreds of pages (around 300), the text font is smaller, and they had 4 reviewers for each game. Less ads, too.

The magazine is sure in a sad state.

But, in either case, it came from here. Thanks CA...M! (That's M for magazines. :p)

So the Official Playstation Magazine is back? I saw one at a store the other day. It was published by FutureUS.

What the hell does that mean for the people who had years of OPM tacked onto their EGM subscriptions?

Nothing, the remaining OPM issues will remain tacked onto the EGM subscription.

Like you pointed out, OPM now has a different publisher. So Ziff-Davis isn't going try to around work a deal out with FutureUS get OPM issues to old subscribers. Especially when ZD is still bleeding money in their magazine division.

Actually, it's an entirely different magazine now and it's not called OPM. It's called PlayStation: The Official Magazine; it was previously known as PSM.

It's sounds like Sony is allowing them to use "Official" in their name since OPM from Ziff Davis shut down. It was crap when it was PSM and it's probably still crap now. Just my opinion, of course.

This month's issue was a profile on FFVII:Crisis Core(not sure on title?) and that looked decent, but since i don't own a ps3, I ignored it.

The sad thing is, I have an issue from 1998. It has hundreds of pages (around 300), the text font is smaller, and they had 4 reviewers for each game. Less ads, too.

The magazine is sure in a sad state.
Didn't one of the last issues talk about the relationship between companies and EGM? And how it's "for the readers, not them." Pretty stupid. I really hope gaming mags don't go fully digital, I actually enjoying reading paper once in a while.

Most (if not all) free subscriptions are paid for by sponsors, so somebody is paying for them (excluding offers by the publishers themselves, unless they say "brought to you by" or some such). In addition to that, I would imagine that the more subscribers a magazine has the more it can charge advertisers for adspace.

Of course, I'm no business man, but that seems fairly logical to me.

The biggest reason for magazines getting smaller is right in front of your face: computer's and the internet. Gaming sites don't have a month delay in news, they're free (excluding premium services) and they offer various community features such as forums, chat rooms and commenting systems. Magazines are still using the same format they had before the internet went mainstream.

Thank you, I guess some d-bags like to try to make people feel inferior to them by bashing them on forums and writing in big colorful letters. I actually like to read magazines in my own hands and not online, but alot of people just feel different i guess.

Even though EGM is much thinner now if we can keep stacking free subs onto our accounts it's well worth it. (Speaking of which I just got the latest issue in the mail yesterday).

nah pretty sure that wasn't the main reason though it surely didn't help. just general stupidity of some people combined with a overall lack of appreciation. Here's a secret that a lot of guys just either dont seem to know, get or just plain dont care. Girls like to be appreciated. Mothers, daughters, sisters, wives, etc... Most guys dont mind being appreciated but if they are not no biggie whatever. Girls well it typically matters a lot more to them.

Not putting words in her mouth just my impression with a general but typical overtone.

I renewed on amazon when they had PSM for $10 with a $5 instant rebate for 1 yr (on 2 occasions I bought it) and it just added on to the end of my sub. The one I bought right before the changeover and the other I bought after the second issue of OPM. YMMV of course.

PSM/OPM ($5 for 12 issues) and KING (9.94 for 12 issues) are the only mags I pay for.

I haven't been on the site for a while, so I haven't posted many mag deals. Plus I think i have been flagged for having too many subs. :bomb:

When we manipulate the system for our own person gain we should receive just as good or better service than those who pay for it straight up? Getting things discounted or free require more work (signing up as the CEO of best buy to get a free mag sub?) than paying full price, but you shouldn't complain about getting them free.

The next time you go to a restaurant you should leave without paying, because the waitress couldn't have been fast enough or the food tasty enough for you. Where do I sign up to be one of your personal slaves so you can complain about how my free service isn't good enough.

I don't know about anyone else, but I beleive that you should appreciate what you do get for free, or pay for it and complain that it wasn't worth your money.

If you have any more respconces, please pm it to me so I can ignor it. 8-)
