I noticed that new Cooking Mama (DS) was selling for a couple of bucks more that its $20 retail price. Why is that - I've seen it at both Best Buy (where it would be $15 with GGC) and at Toys R Us so it hasn't been hard to find for me.

Speaking of Toys R Us, given Cooking Mama's selling price, you could buy two of them and get another $20 for free (B2G1 Free offer) and then recoup your cost by selling the two Cooking Mamas on Ebay.

Yeah you can do that with almost any game with a b2g1, I just don't go through the trouble. With fees and what-not you could probably get pretty much any DS game for around $10-15 using b2g1 and selling the other copies.

EDIT: and to make this relevant to the actual topic, yeah some people on ebay are dumb and things frequently go over retail.

plus some people don't have all the big retailers near them, or they don't want to spend the time driving around looking for the game. they'd rather have the convenience of buying it off ebay. and they might have ebay GCs or an ebay rewards card or something. but yeah pretty weird when that happens.

You could factor in gas, or the fact that people are too lazy to go to WalMart or BB and get a copy.

they might also live at the intersection of FM1808 and FM439, 35 miles from the nearest town of 5,000 residents.

I'm betting that there are a lot of guys too embarrassed to buy it in person...so they have to compete with each other on Ebay.

I bought it in person... because I needed a 3rd $19.99 game for the TRU B2G1. Of course, there were no girls, cute or otherwise, working the register.
