View Full Version : Castlevania POSSIBLY until February - Maybe Europe Only?

Yes. You read that title right. Konami's going to delay Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin and release it on February of next year. Now before you quote Dracula's immortal (teehee) lines and say "What is a man Konami? A miserable little pile of secrets delays!," please reconsider. They're not pushing the release date back without any substantial reason.
A spokesperson for Konami Europe says that we're not going to see Portrait of Ruin this year so that the developers can buy some time to add more features. Yep. They're going to beef up their game and some of the features they plan to append would focus on its online connectivity. They're planning to whip out (sorry for the pun) an online mode to trade spells, an online shop that sells spells, and a two-player co-op via WiFi to battle enemy bosses.
We're not sure of the other features they might implement, but given the features mentioned above, we're willing to wait. Go, Konami! At the rate they're going, Dawn of Sorrow fans have a lot to look forward to in this sequel.

I don't mind. I've got far too many games coming out this holiday season that pushing one or two games back is easier on my wallet.

Damn, the WiFi co-op sounds awesome. It'd be worth the extra wait for that IMO.

Exactly. The following article (which mentions those features), posted on Oct. 23, says, "The game's scheduled for release in mid-December, but the game's done and Konami will do its darndest to get the game out on shelves as soon as it is able."

I hope this is for Europe only, but if the wifi features are already done in the US version why would they have to delay it over there in the first place.
I was really looking forward to a Vampire (assuming theres a vampire in this one) killing Christmas.

I'm with yukine on this. It sounds like only the UK release has been delayed. It doesn't surprise me. They hold out on other titles as well. Neither Havest Moon DS nor Cooking Mama have been released over there yet.

I thought there was info about the WIFI co-op boss rush and item selling/trading quite a while ago. No idea why the European release would be delayed so long though.

I might be mistaken then. I find it hard to believe they would delay the European launch to add WiFi stuff. The game is in english anyways.

A lot of European releases have additional languages (standard multi-5) so this might require additional time to include. The European market is also smaller in terms of sales so they're a lower priority for most video game businesses.

but europe got Zone of Ender 2 Special Edition, FFX International and uncut version of ICO beucase of the delay.

The Delay is Europe only. USA is still on track for a 12/5/06 release date.
