I'm definitely going to use some kind of coupon to get the wii, whether it be using overstock or one from Circuit City. I'm hoping that stores will give us some kind of incentive to buy it at their establishment.

I got burned when i bought the DS lite a few weeks early since BB and others were giving free copies of Brain Age away with purchase.

I know the DS lite and Wii are two vastly different pieces of equipment, but here's hoping for a free item thrown in somewhere.

I was thinking bullshit when people on FW were saying they were up at like 7:45 AM (eastern), but then the same thing happened for me at 9:30 or so. Too lazy for a screenshot, but I would just encourage you to keep trying. I think they're coming back as they drop out of peoples' carts.

Thanks for the tip. I only had to refresh once and I was able to preorder it. Also, Amazon has been giving out free 3-month trials of Amazon Prime. You can have it shipped in two days for free, or you can choose the 1 day option for just $3.99.

I noticed that sometimes it says I am signed up for alerts on the item, and sometimes it gives me the option to sign up for alerts. Definitely a glitch here somewhere.

I can only recommend refreshing, or doing a search for it. It took me a good half hour of refreshing before I got the option for one - it's frustrating as hell, but the payoff (hopefully) incredible.

LOL, I've edited my order back and forth about 3 times from 2-day free shipping to 1-day $3.99 shipping. My cheapness and my desire to get my hands on the Wii asap are in conflict.

On a side-note, the shipping estimate states November 3 to November 10 (for delivery, it is 11/7 - 11/14). Not giving my hopes up, but if the rumors are true that retailers are getting the Wii 3 weeks before launch makes me hope Amazon will have a massive glitch and ship all our systems early.

I have a feeling that they "fixed" it. Like I said I was already signed up to receive alerts but sometimes a page would show saying I was not signed up and a big yellow "Sign Up" button was shown. My guess is that this is the page that you could pre-order from.

I tried that method and when I clicked "put the selected item in my shopping cart" it put an Xbox Vision Camera in there. Craziness!

I don't think the money to be made on Wii's will be the money to be made on PS3's but I am looking to get at least one extra to try to sling on Ebay to offset the cost of the unit I am going to keep. Hell Pre-orders for the Wii are going for $600 and up on Ebay now. What will it be like a week before Christmas and they are sold out in metro areas with no other options......

First off, I would never go to EB looking for any gaming system on launch day unless I pre-ordered. Between Wal-mart, Best Buy, Target, Circuit City, Kmart, etc. there will be plenty of places to pick up Wii's. Hell there's Costco too, they had close to 200 360's in EACH store in this area on launch day and those launched with closer to PS3 numbers than Wii numbers. Since there should be around a million Wii's hitting the streets on launch day if someone really wants one that Sunday, they shouldn't have a problem getting one. Pre-orders going for $600 on ebay right now have NOTHING to do with how easy or hard it will be to get one when they hit the streets, that's just stupid people overreacting and panicking.

Amazon posted a note on the Wii page (it's kind of buried now, look for the main post from "Jon" from Amazon) that they do plan to honor those pre-orders.

Of course, they can say whatever, but I have some amount of faith those weren't considered "glitched"-- you'd think they'd be cancelled by now if they don't intend to honor them.

No one knows. It was never 'officially' started. Someone on the amazon product discussion forum had a theory that kinda makes sense. Back in September when they first 'accidentally' took a bunch of orders, they canceled all quantities higher than 1 in everyone's order, because they were concerned about short supply. Maybe they learned that their supply will be fine, and released these 'in limbo' quantities for availability today in batches. If so, they must have more coming for an 'official' preorder batch.

This weekend is shaping up to be a hectic three days for gamers looking to get the newest additions to the next-gen console family. High demand and low supply are causing problems for retailers, with GameStop already admitting that it won't be able to fulfill the PlayStation 3 preorders it has taken.

Seeing the opportunity to avoid a potential nightmare, online retailer Amazon.com has opted to not take preorders for the PS3 and will not take further preorders for the Wii. A forum goer claiming to be a member of Amazon's video game editorial staff broke the news on the products' message boards.

"This was not an easy decision, but we made the decision because we want to ensure that we can fulfill all of the orders that are placed within a reasonable time period," reads the post.

For gamers hoping to get the new consoles in time for Christmas, Amazon cautioned that delivery by the end of 2006 wasn't a guarantee. "We understand your frustration, but we believe it would be extremely irresponsible if we took preorders for product that we may not be able to deliver until 2007."

The news was better for the Wii, though, as Amazon stated that customers who did preorder the Wii online should receive their systems "shortly after" the system's launch date of November 19.

Amazon was not available to confirm or deny the news as of press time.

Ebay's going to be a wash, for sure, but there's always the guaranteed bet of Black Friday that's going to pay off no matter what you're trying to unload. BF parents will buy ANYTHING that's scarce and they'll buy it that morning at your price, in cash. Beat that.
