LOL 12 years, wow... ya I actually saw that site I just wasn't sure if that was actually free. Like when I go to that Ziff Davis thing for EGM, it says

Make a Payment
Renew Your Subscription
Change Your Name/Address
Manage Digital/Print
Manage Email
Manage Automatic Renewal
Customer Service RequestWhen I click on EGM, so I'm not sure if its actually free...I dont want to have to pay.

Spades, use one of those subscriptions doing this: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/showthread.php?t=280910

EGM doesn't give discounts/freebies to Canadians, so that's the only way.

Oh one thing though, now that I know that neat little trick, I still need a website that actually offers a free EGM subscription. Unless that one is it and I'm just missing something ><

Like neocisco said, all free magazine offers will be posted here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=112587
You can try the EGM offers on the main page, but I dont think any of them work in Canada.

What trick?
Here's the 2 offers off the main page:
http://www.mercurymagazines.com/pr1/101/10111
or
http://www.mercurymagazines.com/pr1/101/10115

The last one says it works out of country, so there you go.

I don't think it works for Canada. I tried it back when it was first posted and haven't gotten my magazine yet. The trick he's talking about is what I posted here and on your thread. It's a link to RFD explaining how to get American subscriptions.

Spades22

Ok that mercury link I also checked out and there is an option for "other" when you select country. Does this mean Canada applies or will I have to use this trick?

do you have to put a specific job industry and title? It wont let me select EGM on the next page, its check box is grayed out?

Through the trick. If you put Canada they'll say they don't currently ship outside the USA. I tried that months ago as well =P

From the 3rd link:
Outside US, allow 8-12 weeks.
They ship outside the US and not to Canada? That's weird. Or maybe it justs take even longer than that?
Thanx for the Canada info. I'll add it to the OP.

No, all the offers in the free magazine thread are free. You'll get renewal notices, but no bills.

Like some people suggested, use a hotel from the USA =P I'm using the one I stayed in Portland while on a school trip last year.

Haha well I haven't been to the USA for about 1 year, so I don't really remember any... hmm I'll look around for a pamphlet =P. I'm glad I'm getting this cause I won't need to pay for stupid Nintendo Power anymore, (I was sick of it by now...such a bad magazine), and so that saves me 30 bucks per year to spend on other things, like maybe Xbox live if I get one =P

Oh and could I take like ANY hotel address in the USA just off google? Or do I need to know a bit about it?...

Why are you spending $30 a year for Nintendo Power >_>;;
http://www.nintendo.com/three_for_free/

Register three Nintendo games/systems and you get three free issues. Then it's $15 Canadian a year. I still subscribe. Stopped for a while but ever since the redesign and the cheap deal, I've gone back. $1.25 an issue is worth it for the occasional interviews and monthly Zelda feature.

I just Googled this for you:
http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/1/en/hotel-directory/oregon/portland

You just have to enter the address and then keep it safe for when you change your subscription.

lol darn I got so many games I could subscribe. I coulda got the master quest thing too...but I didn't know about all this till a few months ago so..ya I was just your average buy a game or two every year type lol. Now..I still got a few games wrapped 0_o

oh ya and thx for the link, I'll do it all tomorrow cause i wanna go to bed right now =p

by the way, how long should i wait to change my address from the american one to the canadian?

Firestorm

The Master Quest thing was a pre-order for Zelda: The Wind Waker. You're thinking of the Collector's Edition which was the two NES games and two N64 games on one disc =)

I don't know exactly how long, but RFD says 6 weeks or so. Check the thread there for more info. I just found out about the trick this week and am trying it now for the first time as well. I've been trying to find a way to get a free EGM subscription for a while now.

Wow...two pages running, and not one "Duh, you couldn't pay me enough to read that piece of crap/shit/tripe!" snipe. Not even some standard-issue myopia about how Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo has them bought off.

This may be the most 'holiday spirit' I've felt yet this December.

Yeah, but that's like defending the Oakland Raiders by saying "hey, they're still the best football team in Oakland"
