Because it's fraud and is illegal.

well technically Best Buy just gave them away so its their product anyway....this isnt helping.
Just curious how is it fraund and illegal?
Would it make a difference if i said i got it for my birthday
Its funny. Some people on here dont mind buying a game form best buy getting a faceplate returning it to cc and rebuying it for a cheaper price at cc....granted this is slightly different

deceit, trickery, sharp practice, or breach of confidence, perpetrated for profit or to gain some unfair or dishonest advantage. You're using deceit and breach of confidence in order to profit. That's why it's fraud. Fraud in any case of consumer law is usually considered illegal.

If you don't think you're doing anything wrong, why don't you just go to the store and say, "I got this for free elsehwere, will you give me full store credit for this?"
Its not like the store will know
You saying this implies you know that you're doing something wrong.

Because they aren't losing money. You bought an item there, and are returning an identitical item although you bought it elsewhere. It's the same as me borrowing $5 from you and giving you a different $5 bill in return.
What you're proposing to do is to get your $5 back from a store that never owed it to you.
Let's say the store carried one $1,000 television. It sells. You come in with a television you stole from somewhere else and say you want to return it for the $1,000. Then the person that actually bought the TV there returns his, too. The store is out $1,000 even though they have all their original inventory back. Obviously, someone is committing fraud, and the store is either forced to refuse receiptless returns or jack up all their prices to make up for this loss.
It may seem like an unlikely example, but excessive cases of consumer fraud caused retailers to lose a great deal of money (multiply one $20 movie or one $50 game by thousands of cases of fraud), and eventually forced many stores to require receipt returns, and those that don't now employ investigative companies to monitor who returns things without receipts and how often. Most retailers employ the same companies so they have a cross-company database of people doing so.

To answer the OP's question, try Wal Mart. Yes, it's illegal, but I hate Wal Mart so I don't care.

You bitch and moan that you want to know where you can return a game without a receipt, and I answered your question. Now you say you don't think you'll do it. Do you think I hung around here until you said to lock the post? Whatever kid.
