Instead, ban the posters who start moral/ethic discussions who ruin perfectly fine threads that get locked.
I've only been registered at CAG for a couple years after about one year of lurking and have posted a very small percentage of this time. I've read the TOS, but by no means many of the numerous threads and updates over the years. So I am confused about the above quoted statement and a few threads which have made attempts to crack down on moral/ethical discussions. Is it somewhere in the TOS that moral and ethical disucssions are not permissable at CAG?

I got into such a discussion with another CAG a few weeks back which was subsequently closed. Perhaps I went to far when I stated that the person with whom I was debating was deliberately ignorant (I use words carefully, and I meant what I said... I felt he chose to remain closed-minded... which ironically I never really had issue with his actions, only with his inability to concede factual statements he was blatantly ignoring.)

Possibly it was the fact that I called a fellow CAG deliberately ignorant that closed that thread. But after seeing multiple mentions of rape and forcing women to do demeaning things in the LifeStyle and OTT forum, I'd be surprized if my slight was the reason for the threads closure.

So I'm back to the unwritten (or if I'm missing something then the correct term would be the un-seen) rule that morality and ethical discussions can't be discussed here. Is this the case?

Please understand I am not attempting to dredge up a past thread or the issues there-in. If I did something inappropriate, I would appreciate being told by the appropriate mod how I screwed up, so I won't do this again. And if Right/Wrong/Justification/Grey-Areas can't be discussed, where is this stated?

Thanks so much for your time!

We've made the decision that moral and ethical discussions involving video game shopping belong in the Deal/Shopping Discussion forum (we have a dedicated sticky thread) and not in the Video Game Deals forum.

This was done to prevent those threads from being diluted with such discussions and to keep them on topic.

Just to clarify - you didn't do anything wrong. You're allowed to state your opinion on different matters. The ethics/morals discussions tend to go on for pages and often take deal threads way off track. The new sticky thread was to created to deter that from happening. Feel free to discuss such matters there.

That makes sense. Thank you Mr D, Sir. And Mr Trakan for your clarification.

For my reference and anyone else's, here is the master thread just referred to (http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=103552).

I agree with you on that 100%. A lot of times CAGs think that rape is funny to them. Its one of those things that shouldn't be discussed at all, but there seems to be no punishment for it. I dont know what was said, but if someone has the right to make a comment like that, then I think you have to right to respond in whatever way you want, in whatever forum you want.

I agree.
