I curious if it actually works. Games like FFXII and Okami really deserve to be played in progressive scan. Its seems to been out since last month in the UK and I was wonder if anyone has reviewed it yet.

I heard that it doesn't work with DMC or Okami. Hopefully this is a step in the right direction and that someone can create a true HD solution for PS2 games that don't support progressive scan.

I've read plenty comments that it sucks and is not worth the money. Especially if your TV is widescreen. I was hoping it would be worth paying for because I hate how Final Fantasy XII looks on my TV, but it's too bad it sucks.

Yeah, I ordered that thing as SOON as it became available. Got it last week. The main reason for getting it was to play FFXII on my Sharp LCD in 480p. (Which most PS2 games look like crap on.)
for FFXII it enables 480p, which makes it look superb, the downside is, that it forces a 4:3 box that CANNOT be stretched to full (widescreen). I've been asking others with it to report their experience with FFXII and the Xploder and all have come back with the same experience as me.
Other games (GTA: SA) work correctly (480p 16:9) and others like FFXII and MGS3 only do (480p 4:3).
Ok product, but does not live up to the hype IMO.

Would you be willing to trade it to me? Where did you buy it?
I'd like to try it out. I can run games in 4:3 and just stretch the image using the panorama aspect on my TV. I'll do anything to make Final Fantasy XII look better.

Got it here http://www.xploder.net/products/148/Xploder-HDTV-Player.htm
Took about a week to come in. As long as your TV has a more advanced stretch option than mine, you should be able to get the widescreen.
What I was saying before, was that it sends a widescreen signal to the TV, but even stretched out, its a 4:3 box with black bars on the side.
Kinda like Soul Cailbur II for XBox when it ran in 720p mode. http://z-o-g.org/soulcalibur2/sc2-xb720p.php

The point of this device completely eludes me. I read the description of the product several times and couldn't get past all the marketing BS. What exactly is this thing supposed to do?
EDIT: NVM. The IGN review has clarified the situation.

I'm waiting for the VGA cable to come out. It sounds like most game work great in progressive scan and my monitor isn't widescreen, so it is exactly what I was hoping for.
