Quite possibly the worst PR I've ever read:
Sony, it's cool you have some PR guys back in the spotlight now. Guys like Peter Dille, Senior Vice President of Marketing for SCEA. You need them. But if they're going to be the mouthpiece of your product, they need to know...well, a little more about the product. Here's a choice selection of Dille's responses to some questions thrown at him by the Engadget team.
About the possibility of further cutbacks to the PS3's available launch numbers:
" I don't know that there's anything new to talk about there. I'm trying to recall the last public statement about the launch number."
About the possibility of a bundled VGA cable for the PS3:
"Right. I don't - no, no, it's not included in the box. I don't think we're offering that as a peripheral."
About why the PS3 will upscale DVDs, but not PS1 or PS2 games:
" I don't know, to be honest. I don't know the answer that much."
"I don't know the answer that much". That is awesome. Sony, you need to keep a leash on these guys. They're not helping. His heart is in the right place, bless him, but when he doesn't know specifics about the finished hardware that you're shipping in a weeks time, it's best not to let him sit down and talk to anyone.
Dude needs to be fired by Sony immediately.
