I'm one of those people... I owned an Xbox since launch, I had about 40 or so games for it but I just never got into it. It was the first system I ever had that, when it broke, I just sold all the games off instead of replacing the system.
Now, we fast forward to the 360, and I've got 15 or so games and I love the system, I think it's awesome. I really can't quite put my finger on why I love the 360 but hated the original Xbox, since the general genre and type of games seems to be the same, but nonetheless that's just how it is.
Is there anyone else who was this same way?

Yea I feel the same way. I really tried to like the Xbox, but it never did much for me. I think a lot of it were that a lot of the games I was not interested in or had on the PC and Xbox live back then was definately not worth 50. They tightened things up a lot this time around and the way they intergrated everything is very nice. I also think that the amount of quality games compared to the original is much greater.

I loved my Xbox. It was my favorite system. Funny thing was that I shit on the Xbox for the fist 3 years and loved PS2. Changed after I saw how much better xbox looked compared to PS2. I love the 360 when it actually works, mine broke last night while playing Call of Duty 3. Good thing I bought the 2 year warrenty. Lets just hope my 3rd 360 wont break .

Alot of them were cheap clearance titles, and I had 40 games over the span of like... 3 or 4 years. My Xbox just died sometime last year.
I still tried out alot of the hit Xbox titles and most of them didn't really strike a chord with me... hell, right now I only have about 5 or 6 BC titles and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Last gen I liked all of the console's equally. I liked them (PS2, Xbox, GCN) for there good points. But this gen I'm hating the PS3 for its price, and lack of games that are only for that platform.

I still like the XBox more than the 360. That will probably change over time, but so far the XBox is still it for me between the two.

I loved the original XBOX: Armed and Dangerous, Ninja Gaiden, Ninja Gaiden Black, Morrowind, Halo, KOTOR, superior versions of multi-console games.
XBOX 360 has been rather lackluster so far, but it seems to be picking up.. The only games I've really enjoyed have been Call of Duty 2 and Gears of War.

I love it for now....I think that once the PS3 comes around and it's in full swing, I'll have to re-evaluate the pecking order...but for now, it is my most played system. Even favored over my now-dusty DS.

I never bought an xbox, nothing on it intrigued me enough that I couldn't also get on PC.
I do own a 360 though. Does that count?
For me it's exactly the other way around. I thought the Xbox was the best console last generation and I own almost 80 games for it (more than any other system, except for many PSX, I dunno) but I'm not too fond of the 360 yet.

Think the controller had alot to do with it
The controller S button layout was just out there, with 360 they went back to what works best with controllers

I bought the Xbox right when it dropped to 200 but never really liked it and the games took forever to come out. I sold it and used the money to buy a ps2 which I still play to this day.
I am really liking my 360 so far and I hope it stays that way.

I'm exactly the opposite. I loved the original XBox. The 360 so far just isn't cutting it for me.

My 360 shit the bed this week, 1 day before GoW, two months after the warranty dissapated.
My Xbox never died. So, in this moment of recent frustration, I'd have to say: Original!

I can proudly admit that I never owned the original Xbox and I never will. Yet, ironically enough, I love my 360.

I never owned the original. In fact, I hated it. However, I'm hooked on my 360. I think Microsoft really has a great product with this 360.
I enjoyed the Xbox, but I haven't played it since I got my 360 (if not once or twice).
As far as last-gen goes, I still play my PS2 from time to time.

I enjoyed the regular Xbox for certain games (KOTOR among them) and its niches, but I would have to say that I was greatly dissappointed by it. I love the 360 so far though and Live, oh yaeh, everybody send me some friend requests.

i enjoy both my 360 and xbox, especially when i got xbox live. thats all i play. unfortunately 5 yrs span of my xbox finally crapped out, now i cant play mvp 05, mvp 06, of nfl 2k5 anymore...they need another BC update and put those games. and during the time it broke, good deals for the 360 came out so it gave me a chance or reason to finally get a 360 lol

I loved the original Xbox. I bought one about three years after a PS2 and a year after a GCN, but still ended up buying more games for the Xbox.
However, I think I already like the 360 more

Well, I bougth the XBOx and I really only likes Halo and Halo 2, nothing really more. The 360, which I have had for 3 months allows me to play Halo 2 with my friends and family and enjoy some great games. Already with the 360 I have bought 3 AWESOME games: GoW, GRAW, SR. And with more realeases to come, such as Lost Planet, a price drop on Dead Rising, RB6 and a price drop on COD 3, It looks lik Ill ahve alot to do next summer.

i pretty much bought an xbox because of the mod/homebrew scene. XBMC is the shit.
i sold my ps2.
then my xbox took a shit
i rebought a ps2, mostly because of my ex-gf and i wanted to play god of war
then fixed my xbox
then purchased my 360. i've never been happier with a console (maybe the SNES or NES) own about.. 10 games... i dont have enough time in my life to play it though, which sucks.

Me.
Last-gen I was all about the PS2, but going into next-gen, the 360 all things considered seems like the clear-winner in this round.
Perhaps the PS4 can win me over again, but that's not for a while.

Nah, I never had fond gaming memories of the Xbox, but wtf is people's deal with me owning 40 games for the Xbox? That's from launch until about a year and a half ago, the system was 4 years old and there were a TON of clearances and sales on games in that time period... it only averages out to 10 games a year, which is what some people buy in a month.

If I had 40 games for a system I'd never get bored... I've probably only bought about 40 games in my lifetime hahaOMG, I can't believe there's a person here who only bought 40 games in a lifetime. I buy more than 40 games a year.
As for this thread, it's kind of hard to explain. I bought an Xbox at launch. I did enjoy it; however, my problem was that many of its popular games, weren't appealing to me (I mostly bought my Xbox for Sega games, like PD Orta, JSRF, etc.). Despite many of the popular games not appealing to me, I still insisted it was my favorite console, by supporting it the most. After owning my Xbox for a year, it started to have even more problems, where it was basically unplayable. I got it repaired, during free repairs and got back into it. But after having to get it repaired a 2nd time (less than 60 days), I just gave up Xbox as my main console, and went to PS2 (couldn't be any happier, since PS2 was more appealing to me). I still gave my Xbox some support, but none of the multiplatform games, do to the possibility of them not working in the first place.
As for 360, I had next to no interest at launch, compared to being excited about 360. I eventually bought it. Although I like the 360, I'll just say at its current state, I don't like it anywhere near as much as Xbox (I'm still running into problems with un-appealing games to me, and it's probably worse with 360) during the same time 4 years ago. The difference is, I'm much more interested with the future of the 360 (probably because of JRPGs), compared to the original Xbox (where there wasn't a lot I was looking forward to).
So in all reality, I liked the original Xbox, despite being more of a PS2 fan. This time, I like 360, but I'm thinking I'll probably be more of a PS3 fan, but I feel my support between the two consoles will be much better balanced (not 198 to 41 games, my PS2 to Xbox ratio, more like a 2:1 or less ratio).

I don't know. It just seems funny that you'd say you didn't like a system that you owned for 4 years and bought 10 games a year for. That's 40 games for a system you owned its entire lifecycle.
I mean there's gotta be some love there. ;)

Me.
I can't say that I hated the original Xbox, but that it didn't offer me enough games to justify my purchase. I only owned the Xbox for about a year before the 360 launch, but other than a handful of games, I never was quite fond of it.
The only Xbox games I liked where the ones I kept to play on my 360. I never got into Halo.
Dead or Alive 3. KOTOR 1/2, Jade Empire. Crimson Skies. Ninja Gaiden.

Actually I know exactly what rouf is talking about. I mean I had a ton of games for xbox too... lots of titles that sounded decent and were pretty cheap and then stashed away after five minutes of playing...
yeah thats how it happened for me
I am actually more mad at MS for not getting Xbox the kind of support X3360 has.

While I'm not surprised, it is pretty shitty that MS basically put a bullet in the XBox the second the 360 came out. Prior to that, even. I know they were losing money on it but fucking christ, at least give it a nice send-off.
The XBox just seemed to do more with less. About this time in the XBox's lifecycle we already had stuff like Jet Set Radio, Crazy Taxi, Oddworld, and Panzer Dragoon in addition to the XBox-associated favorites like PGR, Elder Scrolls, and Halo. The 360 is only now starting to have a respectable lineup of games, and even then most of them are shooters or sports game sequels. Dead Rising is ok, but it wouldn't have gotten near the attention it did if it had arrived now instead of during a drought.
As soon as the 360 ups the variety a bit they should pull ahead of the original. Hasn't happened yet though.

I personally never planned on buying an xbox. My girlfriend bought me one for xmas when they had the pack-in of Jet Set Radio/ Sega GT.
I always hated the xbox because when I first played it I used the DUKE controller and that thing was just huge. Plus it was made by microsoft and I just did not believe in them as a gaming company. A couple of my friends also had it and I tried to like it but decided it was not for me and I went out and bought a Gamecube on Launch instead.
After I got it from my GF, I picked up a bunch of Sega launch titles like Crazy Taxi 3 and House of the Dead 3. I also bought Halo and Buffy. I really enjoyed it for the most part. I really enjoyed playing Halo co-op with my buddy also.
I fell in love with my xbox with the release of Rainbow Six and xbox live play.
Playing games online with my friends was great! I never liked or have been into PC gaming and I tried to get into some online games for PS2 (the only game I liked was champions) so to play online xbox was where it was at.
I still have all three systems and still play all of them sometimes by 360 gets all my attention now. I love the system and think the interface as well as community and keeping up with some of my close friends using the system is great.
I feel it is only going to get better as time goes on too.
Thanks to my GF xbox is now a part of me.

I'd recommend a diminished capacity defense.
