im buying an sdtv 480i and i just wanted to know should i switch my component cable to hdtv or not becasue im not sure wether 480i is hd. I was reading that it was not really hd. this is for my 360. another question is does the visuals make a differece between standard tv and 480i. and just wondering and i know this doesnt belong here but can the wii handle 480 cause i know it can handle 48p

480i IS essentially standard-definition TV. So no it's not HD and you don't need to switch the 360's component cable. And yes the Wii should be capable of deliviering both 480i/p (and for reference anything that does 480p should technically be able to do 480i).

so is there really any visual difference between a regular tv compared to 480i, will i see a difference playing my 360.

480i *IS* a regular TV.
480p is a nice progressive scan upgrade.
720p and 1080i are what are commonly thought of as HDTV.

This post if 100% accurate, so no, the TV isn't going to look HD.
