You would think that crooks wouldnt even touch used ps2's. At this point there pretty cheap and wont net a very good return.
However it looks like that the Bag handlers for American Airlines Love the ps2 so much they stoled mine tonight straight from my packed suitcase on the way to florida from germany.

So instead of playing FF12 which i had shipped to my florida address on my ps2 im stuck sitting at home starring at the FF12 case.

After a full 24hrs of flying around to get to florida once i got home i was still eager to finally play FF12. When i was opening my suitcase i knew something wasnt right. Previously my suitcase was JAMPACKED with crap. But this time it was pressed inward.. Like it was missing a big ps2 box. So now i have to report the theft which you can only do from 730-5pm unless ur reporting it in person at the airport.

Has anyone ever had any kinds of dealings like this with the airlines?
I mean as soon as they wrap their little branded tag on ur luggage i would think that they would have some kind of responsiblilty for your stuff.

Or am i just screwed?

P.s any info would be great.

Have you contacted the airline yet? Also, I guess you could also file a police report. I figure that airlines are insured for these types of events.

i contacted them and filed a claim.....

we'll see how that goes.
I thought it was pretty f'd up how the lady suggested i should mail all my luggage for future trips.

gotta wait about 6 weeks to get a reply.

Still doesnt help me today. With a FF12 game just collecting dust.

P.S I'll be getting a ps3 in a few days though. :)

Never had that happen to me. Sorry to hear that happened to you.

Thing is when I fly anywhere, either domestic or international flights, I keep anything of high value (electronics for instance) with me on my carry on luggage. I never keep any of it inside my check in luggage.

I realize that you might not have enough room in your carry on. With restrictions on the size and quantity of carry on luggage nowadays, keeping everything with you can be difficult. But I would advise the above, if you ever travel again with something like a gaming console.

File a police report too, it will "bolster" your claim with the airline. Were you using TSA approved locks?

Are you sure it was stolen? Or tossed because it could of been a bomb?

Yeah, for some reason I was expecting a webcam video of someone trying to unhook his PS2 and run out with it.

Sorry to have your PS2 stolen op, at least it wasn't a 360 or something. Just recently, my girlfriend's sister was robbed as well. They broke into their house and jacked their DS and all the DS games.

They left the 360 though. :-#

Back in 2000, United Nations sanctions prohibited Hussein from obtaining computer hardware. According to reports from WorldNetDaily.com, he bought upwards of 4000 Sony PlayStation 2 consoles, intending to cobble together a crude supercomputer for calculating ballistic missile data, designing nuclear weapons, and controlling aerial drones.

Homeland Security confiscated it from you. What were you thinking bringing something with that processing power on a plane?

Good luck with your claim with the airline. Maybe by the time they process your claim, PS2 won't be available, and they'll get you a PS3!

That blows ass, I generally bring my PS2 with me on the plane because I live in a dorm, etc. I would be pissed if this happened, but mine is a launch PS2, so it'd probably be a sign I need to get a new one.

::Raises 4 day dead post::

I used to travel ALL the time for work, and I carried a PS1 with me. (Most of the hotels I stayed at only had SNESs and charged too much to play, even though I could have written it off as entertainment expense...)

This was also the late 90s and 2000, obviously pre-9/11. Like Asian said, I used to pack mine in my carry-on. (Back then you could take a couple bags on; one was my laptop bag that stayed at my feet, and the one in the overhead would have my console, eyeglass case, contact solution, and work-related stuff - all things I would want right away and separate from my clothes and toiletries.)

That really sucks to hear, though. Good luck with the claim. People that I know that have filed claims never saw anything other than a letter of apology...

I threw my old fat PS2 in my suitcase while taking a trip to Arizona in 2005. It didnt get stolen or lost. Sorry about your PS2 though.

Well, I guess I won't try taking mine with me to Chicago in a few weeks. I guess I'll just go with my GBA.

Maybe the'll feel so bad they'll reimburse you with a PS3?

Were you able to get the airline to reimburse you? I fly with my PSTwo in checked luggage all the time, I'm a little worried now :/

I used to always carry my ps2 on the plane in my big dj bag. Both pre and post 9-11. Not because I was afraid of thieves, I just didn't want it being thrown around with the rest of my luggage and abused down under... even though I had the original box and packaging, they throw luggage like crazy
