After seeing a bunch of people on the news this morning waiting for PS3s in wauwatosa, WI at the Highway 100 Best Buy, I decided to go there and Pick up EBA, and look for Wii games. And laugh at the people waiting for the systems.
When interviewed by the reporter about why this individual was waiting so long and what made the system so great (two seperate questions, mind you) His response to both was the same, and made no sense. "Murican(American) Dream!" If you can understand this, you're smarter than I.
Anyway on the next segments they smartly kept this guy off camera. But they dared to bring him back on again for the last segment of the hour. When asked a similar question to last time, his response was threefold. "It got that blu ray technology, it is faster and more better, and this is what urbody(everybody) is waiting for." Who could argue with that reasoning to pay $600? He added a bit of editorial to this, saying that "360 got nothin on PS3"
So back on topic, The PS3 demo kiosk was in best buy. I picked up a sixaxis (surprisingly comfortable, and very light) and attempted to play Motorstorm. Unfortunately, the console had frozen and the game would not progress. The top and bottom of the kiosk did feel very warm to me. Warmer than I've ever felt my 360 get. The system was very quiet, however. So i called over one of the associates to restart the console. When he did, the system would not turn on. I was not surprised.
Basically I anticipate hardware troubles on par with or exceeding 360 last year. My personal launch 360 broke on me a month ago, but microsoft was nice enough to replace it for free, fortunately. I don't understand why people go to such rediculous lengths to buy something that's nearly guaranteed to break within a year. Just my first impression, not too positive. I guess there are probably many more people with positive impressions, and I can't wait to play MGS4 in a few years, or 5. Whenever the system hits a sub-$300 price point.
I did leave with Elite Beat Agents which is a ton of fun, though. So I'm happy. Also they wouldn't sell any Wii games, so those of us waiting for the GGC discount will have to wait, it seems.
