Back when gamecrazy first had the giant GBA drop list and I got a boatload of games, I ended up with 5 copies of Backyard Hockey for GBA. After a little bit of research, I decided to put them up at $21.99. No action until a couple weeks ago, when I took someones best offer, and I took another best offer on the 13th. When I was out the other day for classic plastic, I picked up 2 more, giving me 5 total again, so I lowered the price to 19.99.

All 5 just sold within the last 24 hours. I haven't sold anything else during this time period - just 5 copies of Backyard Hockey in a row.

Very strange.

Probably because there are no new copies on EBay (at least with buy it now) and $19.99 is a few dollars lower than what the going rate is combined with a lot of parents looking for gifts.

Here are a few odd things that happened to me today

1. Buyer sent me a money order certified mail so the postman didn't leave it in my box. I signed the slip and I assume he'll collect that tomorrow and then leave the MO on Saturday. Even better was a buyer that sent me a postal money order (for less than $20) with signature required. Ugh. (I never go to the post office as I print shipping labels at home.) Although I can understand not wanting to trust a stranger - I can be the same way - but there is no need to confirm delivery of a postal MO. Then you have buyer's that send straight cash. Funny how trusting some people are.

2. Buyer's confirmed address was invalid for PayPal shipping. (Sadly that isn't nearly as odd as it should be.)

3. Buyer e-mailed me asking if a game they paid for yesterday evening had shipped yet! Good news is that I had in fact shipped it today, but man that is an impatient buyer. It went with PayPal Shipping so they did get an e-mail with the DC number, but I guess not everyone actually checks their PP e-mail addy.

I hate when that happens. A few weeks ago I got an e-mail Monday morning asking if I shipped the item the buyer bought on Saturday. Buyers are getting more impatient than ever and it's only going to get worse with the holiday season starting. Shipping delays and people waiting until the last minute expecting to get the game by the holidays.

I had a laptop for sale last year. The auction ended about the 15 of December and then the buyer paid about the 17th. They emailed me the 18th asking if I'd shipped it already. I wrote them back saying no for whatever reason, but told them it'd be out with DC in a day or so and proceeded to tell her that if it was so urgent she get it she could request faster shipping instead of the Priority I listed it with. She declined. I ship it out the 19th and give her the DC. She emails me the 20th and says it was three days after the end of the auction and demanded to know why she didn't have the laptop yet. ( :wall: ) I told her I just shipped it yesturday, it's Christmas and she declined expedited shipping. On the 21st she emailed me bitching about it not being there yet.

This continues on for several days as the USPS goes for the end range on their 2-9 average Priority delivery. She sent me an email the 25th or so saying how the laptop was supposed to have been a Christmas present and I had ruined her holiday because USPS didn't get it there on time. I pretty much just said 'whatever bitch' and enjoyed my $250 for the crusty ass 700mhz laptop I got outta a dumpster.

Moral of the story: Avoid ebay. Avoid shipping things around December. Avoid people in general.

I'll probably not listing anything from the middle of December until January. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with it. Plus the post office lines are horrible (which is another place to see how stupid some people are besides EBay, it's amazing what goes on there).

Avoid people in general.

I try to keep that as a general rule.
