Problems with GC games on the Wii?

Hey,

When I first tried to start up RE4 on the Wii, I got an error message. I powered off the console, tried again, and it worked fine. Unnerved, I tried with another game, and the same thing happened. Anyone else have this experience? I don't know if I should take a wait-and-see approach, or if this is an indicator of a problem with my hardware.

Is your console vertical? I heard you had to have it vertical to play GC games.

mine is horizontal, and it works fine

Well, mine is vertical, I only tried Smash Bros., and it worked perfectly. No idea what the issue is.

The Wii is alot more picky about disc with scratches, maybe thats the problem? I tried RE4 and smash bros and had no problems.

I have wind waker, 4 swords, and zelda bonus disc. I got them on ebay to play with my wii, and i got them and they were all scratched up i was really pissed. The ebay seller said he also got those on ebay and they were scratched up but he played all the way through on the game cube. The load fine on the wii, and they really do look unplayable with how many scratches thier are. I hope i am not in the middle of the game and suddenly it bugs out.

I've only tried running Mario Kart (vertical) and didn't have a problem.
