Do you guys think this is necessary to keep on? I connected and downloaded updates no problem...connected to the store and everything was seamless. I turned off wiiconnect because I noticed the system was a little warm when left on. I just don't like the idea of having something always on....I unplug my PS2 slim when I don't use it. I also sometimes go a week or more without playing a certain system so it seems like the right thing to do. I could probably get whatever updates when I turn on the console right?

Most likely. Not sure how messages and whatnot will work if you're not connected.

I think one of the main benefits of WiiConnect24 is that it downloads your messages and content updates automatically when the system is not in use for you.

That way when you actually want to use the system, you aren't waiting for an update or content to download instead of actually playing it.

And currently, the only real use for WiiConnect24 is for the Mii Channel/Parade and the Messaging system. I remember reading something about Zelda content updates/downloads via WC24, but I don't know when or even if it'll happen at all.

To get say, game updates do you have to register your games online via PC or is there someway to register through the system itself?
