So, like everyone else who wanted one to play and not sell, I didn't get a ps3. I'm on the verge of caving and getting the WII, I can live with graphics that are on par with the original xbox, but what kind of games might interest me in the future if I am more of a Playstation/ PC person? I'm just not really sold on the controls... Plus I could be getting an xbox 360 soon from amazon, considering the lineup of games that interest me on the 360 as it stands right now, what would keep me coming back to the WII? I think that it might also be kind of hard to play on my 23 inch trinitron television, since it sits about waist high , so no standing while playing :(

If you are more into coventional consoles, wait and see if you can score the 360 deal on Amazon.

As far as standing while playing, as long as you were back about 4 or 5 feet from your TV, you could probably still stand to play. Wii Sports is the only game where you really need to stand up (and you don't even have to if you don't want to) and since it doesn't use the sensor bar, where you are positioned doesn't make any difference.

Right now, besides Zelda, there aren't a whole lot of games that would make you go to a Wii from a 360, IMO. Once Mario, Metroid, and Smash Bros. come out, then you'll have unique games that you won't be able to play anywhere else.

All you'll really need to justify your purchase is Zelda and Wii Sports. Zelda will give you that "traditional" game that you sound like you're after, with a slight sprinkling of something new.

Wii Sports (included) will give you an adequate representation of everything new that the Wii brings to the table. If you decide you don't like it, no harm no foul, it was free. But if you do like it, you'll have a nice selection of equally Wii-centric games to choose from.

Super Monkey Ball, Rayman, Trauma Center, these are all games that make very good use of the Wii's specific abilities. But they're all just gravy, as you could probably survive until the end of the year with Zelda + Wii Sports alone. If you decide you want more, then there are great titles already out there.

I really only want the 360 core if I can get it at the amazon deal, $399 for the premium is a too much for me, and $299 seems like too much for the core.

I was hooked to ocarina of time, so i'm definitely looking for that kind of gameplay, Zelda looks amazing. didn't get into majoras mask much because of the time limit, but i'd definitely buy that on nintendos virtual console thingy if they released it and try it again.

Now, this is a secret so dont tell anyone else, but Zelda launched with the console...

To the OP, yes dont buy the Wii.... More for those of us who didnt get one on launch day.

What is it about me that seems to attract all of the trolls out of the woodwork?

I'll direct you to something I personally posted in another thread:

I'm actually kind of getting turned off of the Wii because of this rabid Nintendo-fanboyism that has only been getting worse since E3. Its turned into some kind of exclusive circle-jerk club that reminds me of what Apple was 10 years ago. "Oh you don't Nintendo's gaming strategy? You just don't know what innovative gaming is all about, you just don't get it." I mean its almost like we're made to feel guilty because we place a premium on awesome visuals and graphics.

I think my sentiment is perfectly exemplified in this post:

I got a Wii, and I posted about this in another thread but basically Wii Sports is a controller demo, and Zelda belongs on the gamecube. Kind of disappointed so far. Zelda's graphics are worse than the original Xbox launch titles, so if you expect the Wii's graphics to be as good as the original Xbox, I would wait and see.

Edit to reply to RedvsBlue:

Basically I agree that there is a lot of fanboyism, but I bought a Wii anyway for the price and controller. I remember when I suggested a few months ago that the Wii's graphics might only be about as good as the original Xbox, everyone got pissed. My bad guys, you're right.. the Wii's graphics are worse.

The only reason to get a Wii is because you believe in the controls. Maybe you need to try it out first. But in any case, if you dont believe in it, you have no business getting one.

I agree. I will get all 3 new systems, but the wii will be the last one I pick up.

As great as the Wii is, I would have a hard time telling you to buy it because there's hype. If you can demo it and like it, go ahead and grab it.
