OH MAN, I can already tell from that one screenshot that OMO, whatever the hell it is, is totally a Zelda killer.

The first pic is Zelda for Wii. The second pic is a game from 2001. :(

Huh... I guess they look similar...

Oh wait a second... one is widescreen and the draw distance is a LOT further than the other.

Personally I've played neither game (although I do fondly remember abe's oddysee) so I would need a larger sample set to be able to say one game looks better than another.

OMO? Like we all know what that means.

I also like how there's nothing much in the foreground of the Zelda shot, makes it look very plain, when the ground texture in 'OMO' is no better

I do not think anyone here is actually considering the fact that the dpi of these images greatly differs and that it is possible that the camera or capture card used to obtain these images is greatly flawed. Zelda looks much better via 480p 16x9 on my TV than that screenshot suggests and I will go even farther and say that it surpasses OMO graphically and pretty easily at that.

zelda has some awsome shaders that dont show up well on just a screen shot.

lets pick the worst charicter that was a joke and ment to look increadably stuped, with a extreem close up with bad dof for the zelda picture k? how about you take one with the mist right before the first temple. Thats a really good part of the game i have played, and its one of the best looking evirnment then any game i have seen for a while. also zelda has some really really decrative texures that comes up.

the zelda team are masters of art nuvo DZN.

this is what zelda really looks like

Alright, TP's not best looking game out there, we get it.

Honestly, if you're looking for awesome looking graphics, just pick up a 360 (or to a FAR lesser extent, a PS3  ).

Nonsense.

Wow I really thought TP looked way better...but it seems some don't. To be honest lots of games I thought looked better were rated worse in graphics...hmm it all just looks the same to me lately, I guess I just don't really care anymore as the graphics are simply good enough for me to enjoy a game to its max.

No offense, OP, but this thread is stupid (not helped at all by using abbreviations for games no one really played 5 years ago, let alone now).

Have you actually played TP yet? I wouldn't post pics for fear of spoiling things for folks, but even at my scany 7 hours into the game, there's been more than a few times where I've been take aback by the games visuals (and that's in 480i! Oh no!). They are well done and are a remarkable accent to a game that is just fun to play.

And if for you, Graphics = Goodness of game, well, I find that to be sad, but that's ok. You do what you've got to do. Meanwhile, I'll be playing one of the best games, ever. Have fun playing pixel-shader-light-source-bloom-particle-polygonezzz! v. 1.3.

I bought a Wii along with Zelda, mainly for the low price and the controller. I knew the Wii's graphics are not supposed to be as good as the 360 or PS3. For me graphics are a part of how good a game is, not the whole thing, but my point is that it's unacceptable for a Wii launch title to look about the same or worse than a last gen launch title. I hope later games improve on this.

You're a whore. And I won't even do you the service of saying what kind.

Please return your Wii and your copy of Zelda to the store so that it can be purchased by someone who will appreciate it. Thank you.

I have not been impressed with the Wii's graphics thus far either (has anyone?), but I'm 100% sure it's not the best the system has to offer. Zelda:TP is essentially a Gamecube port as far as I know. I'd be surprised if it looks any better than the GC version, to be honest.

Oops! I did it again.

Agreed. I played OMO for days and days, and I can say conclusively, Zelda looks far better on my TV than it. Using unflattering screenshots cannot disprove what my own two eyes see.

Regardless, as jtbradford said, the Wii is capable of more than this GameCube game graphically - which has me excited, because Twilight Princess looks HOT, IMHO. I'm not as picky as some, I suppose.

This is the kind of elitist trash that makes me weep for humanity. I haven't accepted the Nintendo religion and said Zelda is the best thing eVAR so I must be a whore. That doesn't even make sense as an insult.

Obviously I'm not the only one not impressed by the graphics here. And here's another example, from GameSpot's review of Madden:
To make a direct comparison, this version looks closest to the Xbox version of the game, though maybe not quite as good overall.
When was the last time any next gen console looked worse than any of the last gen consoles?

Who's calling who elitist? You're the one questioning whether the Wii and Zelda are worth your time because the graphics aren't as high res as the 360 and PS3. You knew that going in, and yet you bought it anyway. And you posted an inflammatory (and frankly, pretty ridiculous, based on the title, shots used, and complete lack of explanation) thread. Are we supposed to feel sorry for you? I don't get it. Either stop trolling, or accept that doing so is going to get you flamed.

And the phrase you're looking for is "graphics whore."

Oops! I did it again.

Wii Madden looks absolutely NO WORSE than Xbox Madden, let's get that out of the way real quick. I've been playing it on Xbox since it was released, and the Wii version at its WORST looks the same as the Xbox version, and at best (framerate and textures especially) comes in looking a good bit clearer and cleaner. Though clearly the Wii version is a port of the same build used in the last generation...a port that plays about a million times better and more fun than any other version of the game released.

The OP's problem is clearly that he thinks this is a "next gen" system...when Nintendo has told us it's "new gen". Comparing the new systems to the previous generations is for 'tards with 360s and PS3s, thank you.
