It will look great. Xbox 360 games are generally rendered in 720p, so any higher resolution is just done through upscaling. Besides, 1080i isn't always better than 720p, depends on what kind of hardware is in your tv. Often times 720p would give you much smoother motion in your picture, but that's not often the case with newer TVs.

720p is the industry standard atm with cable companies

The difference is really negligible unless you have a great eye for things like that. I play my 360 games on 1080i, and they look and play fantastic.

Trust me you will not be disappointed with that purchase! I got a 32" Westinghouse LCD about two weeks ago and the 360's graphics look incredible on it with the resolution set at 720p.

I'm a fan of 720P it's easier to get games to look great and still run smooth. 1080p is ok but Cable/Sat and interesting signals will never broadcast in 1080p. Takes up too much bandwidth especially since everyone is looking at multi-casting so you can have 4 720p broadcasts in the same channel or 1 1080p broadcast on one channel.

It's worth noting that 1080p doesn't represent a very noticable difference unless you're using a 36" TV or higher... or at least, that's what I've found from my experience. You should be fine with that TV -- it's gonna look damn good even without 1080p.

720p is definitely worth it... the games look very sharp and much better than a standard TV. Even 1080i is a nice jump. I used the 360 via VGA on my HDTV LCD and it looks fantastic using 720p.
As someone said, 1080p isn't really worth it unless you have a larger TV (like 50'+).

How does your TV display non HD video (ie. Playstation 2 games)? Thinking about buying a new LCD tv, but some reviews have been making me nervous.
Thanks.

Bullshit. I see Cable and Satellite doing exactly that to pull people to it. In fact I'd argue people will end up going to both to see some shows in 1080p they wouldn't be able to otherwise because OTA ATSC doesn't put out enough bandwidth to do it and I see potentially networks broadcasting 1080p just from the source, not OTA.

PS2 games look fine on my 32 inch Sharp Aquos LCD. I just played through Okami and that game looks fantastic.
Of course... 360 games in 720p look even better ;)

On a 32 inch TV you won't notice much of a difference, and many Xbox 360 games are 720p anyway.

The only system I have hooked up to mine is my Xbox 360 so I'm not sure what Playstation 2 games would look like.

I prefer 720p to 1080i, because of the smoother motion. I've seen some 1080p material, and the difference between 720p and 1080p is much MUCH less noticable than 480 to 720. In fact, unless you put them side by side or you're sitting less than 4 or 5 feet from the tv, you probably won't notice any real differnece between 720p and 1080p unless you REALLY look for it.
In conclusion, stick with 720p. 1080p isn't a necessary upgrade.

All 360 games are natively rendered in 720p, so 1080p will barely be better with them.
