So, last night I talked to my dad and gave me the OK to go buy a Nintendo Wii today, which is Black Friday, the day after thanksgiving. After going on Cheap Ass Gamer, I knew that stores would have Nintendo Wii's available for Black Friday.
The plan was to wake up at 3 A.M. and go to Best Buy and the mall to do some black friday shopping. At the mall was an EB Games, which was supposed to have wii's available. Instead, what happened was my alarm did not go off, and I didn't wake up till 6:30 A.M
So, at that point we figured best buy was kind of a loss, but Gamestop and EB Games weren't going to open till 7 am. Then my cousins and i split into two groups. One would go to the EB Games at the mall and the other would go to Gamestop near some other grouping of stores.
When I got to the mall, I found out that EB Games had no Wii's left. What happened was that the mall opened earlier, so EB Games opened one hour ahead of schedule (6 am). Does that suck or what? Then I looked at FYE and other stores around the mall, but got nothing.
The other group went to the gamestop, and either the store opened early, or there was a line already there (and there was), but they sold out too. Then they proceeded to check at Wal-Mart (which we had gone to at around 12 am), Game Crazy, and some other stores but they were all cleaned out. Game Crazy actually had a waiting list that probably won't be filled until after the New Year!!!!
I called a bunch of other retailers but none of them could give me a straight answer on when they would get a shipment in. Right now, I'm thinking they might get one on sunday of next week, because thats what my friend was told on launch day, but I'm not sure right now.
This blows...

I don't get this statment. He was not smart enough that his alarm clock didn't go off? You make no sense bro. He also did realize the stores opened early hence the reason he set his alarm clock to 3am. Man your a douche.

Nobody had any Wii's anyway. Maybe some big markets held back some for Black Friday, but my guess is those were few and far between.

It wasn't a question of the alarm not going off. If you set an alarm correctly it goes off at the right time, every time. The OP obviously did not set his clock right, so this makes it the OP's fault.
With that being said, yeah, David85 is a trolling douche.

Yea, it was my cellphone alarm, which i've never tried before, so it's probably my fault for that. But, I didn't not get a wii because i wasn't aware that stores open early

I went to get the Wii after getting my TV, first I dropped the TV off at my house, then I went to one eb and there were like 20 people outside, then I drove back to the one at the mall and when I got there they sold the last one. Made me sad :(

I went by Best Buy this morning.. fucking insanity. I was going to get the C743 "unadvertised" Kodak Digital Cam for my g/f's bday, but they handed out tickets for it. Tickets for a "secret" item.. go figure. Of course, they got no Wii's in.. but I saw some crackhead looking people fighting over Bluetooth headsets. Some were walking around with stacks of 5-10.. I had Condemned and The Outfit in my hand, but figured it wasn't worth the damned trouble. Went home, ate some Chik-Fil-A, and went back to bed. People had camped at BB since 5, or so I was told.
The Wii is an imposibility in Alabama. As for David85.. have you ever met a Nintendo fanboy? Quite the scary sort.. and a jerking Wiimote is likely the closest they'll get to any action. He's the kind of person that considers a Nintendo product worth camping out on a family holiday 12 hours prior to store opening, as it is a piece of plastic sent from the heavens to give himself some sort of purpose in life to make up for his own inadequacies. Don't believe me? Anybody who's last 14 out of 25 posts on CAG are condensending Nintendo related "mightier than thou" content is what we consider of the "fanboy troll" ilk. Thanks to them, the Gamespot and Gamefaqs communities are very active.

I saw a huge pile of 360's at walmart today. Wii's will be readily available soon enough, it is just a matter to be patient. I'm sure that you still haven't even gotten through playing all of your last gen (xbox, ps2) games. If you really need a Wii fix, the demo units are set up all over the place.

Wii are getting pretty hard to find.once they hit the shelves their gone immediatly, even the tru in time square is sold out already.I got lucky today. My story is almost the same as yours; I set alarm early and woke up late, but somehow manage to get a wii.I was 10th in line around 7:10 when gamestop open. They have 5 wii's.Out of 10 people only 2 customers pick up awii. The others purchased xbox 360,nintendo ds lite or psp instead.

You are a fucking idiot beyond belief. You call be a fanboy and say I wait in line 12 hours for a Wii when I have no interest in doing so. Then you say I make fun of those people. So I make fun of myself? Fucking idiots.
You can tell it's the holidays, 5 more ignores in the span of 6 hours. Ippressive, keep the work up assholes because I won't be listening.

Yeah, I talked to a couple people in line at one GS this morning around 6:15 and one was there for a DS Lite and the other for a 360.
What the fuck's the point? It's not like either is sold out everywhere.

I found it amusing being at BB and asking where the Wiimote was to play it and the guy mentioned stealing and I succinctly mentioned the situation with the 360 unit and the wireless controllers being like welded to it.
edit: I'd like to see the old David come back, the NICE guy not this asshole trolling.

Man you live in NYC, just go to Nintendo World, 48th Street and Rockerfeller Plaza in between 5th and 6th. I walked in the day after launch and got one within 20 min, they had a ton of them. Hopefully this saves you some trouble...

Stores open early today, correct. 7am as advertised and as the OP stated. The problem was that they opened an hour earlier than 'early'. Should have been fucking smart enough to read, David. I'd feel honored to be added to your ignore list, too.

That blows about not finding a Wii. I waited in line 24 hours last Saturday to get mine. Its amazing. Don't worry, though, you will be able to get one soon. Nintendo is pumping out those suckers like none other. I know this is a tangent but I was at Gamestop today at 11 buying Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz when a guy walked in , asked if they had any PS3's, and the employee said they did and brought one out for him. I was amazed that they had one in stock and no one had asked about it beforehand.

Feel free to ignore me, but you're only putting a bullseye on your ass for being a hypocrite. However, this isn't an issue of lazyness on the part of the op, it's an issue of supply and demand (as well as being the day of the year that it is).
However, I know that I am not on your ignore list at this point. You're foaming at the mouth to see what I say in response of being called a fucking idiot. It's called a lack of self importance in your own life to feel the need to bash people on an internet messageboard, and the filling of a void of power or importance in your real life to feel accomplishment out of bragging about "putting people on your ignore list."
If I'm an idiot, I'm an educated one. At least be halfway accurate. As far as I can tell, calling me an idiot (at least by researching a few of your previous posts) is like a methhead calling a crackhead an addict.

That's pretty damned odd if you ask me, but reflective of the market in real terms. People only wanted the PS3 to Fleabay, but Nintendo's Marketing Dept. has done a fairly good job of stirring up interest in the Wii. This thing is highly in demand.. and I think it'll be a pain in the ass (especially in metro areas) to locate one from here until March.
You know what's funny? They're shipping #'s that are a great deal higher than other recent console launches.. but are still undershipping in terms of demand. I think it really says something about Nintendo having a great deal of potential with this thing.

Sky, I agree with everything you said man. But, given the statement above... that makes you the crackhead right? Cause that meth is some serious shite .

No, Alabama is more commonplace for methheads :) I'm on that team. We ain't no crackheads in the South! It's cheaper to smoke altered Sudafed!
Sorry for the confusion though, it was more meant to be an allegory of stupidity :) As it's an idiot to be either, I'm referring to both of us being idiots. However, I am at work right now, on 4 Excedrin migraines, and miffed that I'm missing the LSU-Arkansas game

As a resident of the "Dirty South" - You and your meth are not a problem. It was more a clarification on my part ;)
- Drug Addicts aside, who exactly is the idiot, is made clear given the above posts. I mean, the fact that you flame the OP for missing an alarm, and then say he's an idiot for it...no, not an idiot. An idiot would make a post threatening to ignore people...seriously how the Fuck is ignoring people going to prevent seeing the stupidity displayed in the post?

Indeed... A few call-arounds Weds evening made it clear that Wii's would not be re-stocked in large numbers anywhere, if at all.
Most of the rest of the BF deals didn't appal to me in the slightest, so I slept in, made some tea, smoked a couple cigarettes, played Wii Sports, and then headed out to TRU where I got a couple more Wii-motes.
Now if only they'd get the nunchuks out in force...
