While surfing the web I came across a blog post about Target getting a Zelda TP Collector Box containing Master Sword and Shield miniature replicas and a soundtrack. It DOES NOT contain the game however. The guy doesn't say if it's a bonus item or something they sell, and after searching the internet like a madman I couldn't find anything else on this. I mean if they were available you'd see some on eBay for sure. Does anyone know anything about this? The guy did include a pic:
UPDATE: These limited collector boxes (only 7,000 made) are available at select Target B&M (Call your store before you make a trip for nothing) for $39.99 now and are featured in this week's Target ad. The Master Sword and Hylian Shield are made of metal and manufactured by Master Replicas (A reputable replica company known for it's attention to detail and quality) and come with a certificate of authenticity. The Soundtrack contains 6 tracks including an orchestral rendition of the Legend of Zelda theme. I want to thank everyone who contributed info to this thread.
(Thanks to Ikohn4ever for finding the pics again)

There's a picture in this week's Target circular.
From the picture, the sword and shield look like cheap little plastic kids toys.

Yeah $39.99 is too much. I'd rather get an extra wiimote or metal slug next week.
Opinion might have changed if it was a full soundtrack and the sword/shield were metal, not plastic.

It's by Master Replicas, so it just wouldn't make sense for it to be plastic. No listing of it on their website, though.

Is this a target exclusive or what?

Master Replicas? They do great work. I actually think it's a good idea that it doesn't include the game, since it would have made it $90-$100 and lots of people already have the game anyway. I might pick this up...
I want to pick this up if I can get to a Target. This suxs right now I want one so bad.

Sorry guys, we don't have a digicam at home.
It's actually really, really nice. The shield and sword feel pretty hefty and the detail is very accurate. It's painted very accurately- the paint doesn't go outside the lines (like, over to another painted section) if you will. The metal parts of the sword and shield use chrome which looks better than gray paint that I've seen on some Zelda figures I've seen in the past. The soundtrack is beautiful to listen to but 6 tracks? Weak!
But then I look at the price tag. $40... ouch. That's almost the price of Zelda alone. You're basically paying for two pieces of painted metal in a showcase box and a very small music CD. It's a great piece to show off for collectors but otherwise, I wouldn't say it's worth it.
The guy at Target told me that these were exclusive to Target and that only certain stores had them which didn't make sense because it was in their ads, unless their ads are regional. I don't know if I believe him because there were at least 30 of them on display and I bought the first one I think.

my exgirlfriend is obsessed with zelda and asked for a "display sword" for christmas... i'm pretty sure she meant an actual sword to hang on the wall, but i'm gonna grab this for her too
Yeah, target dropped the ball by not having it come with the game, that would have been great. But then again maybe nintendo would not allow it? I didn't see too many. It's a very nice package. Worth the $40, I am not too sure. $25 would have been more like it. I wouldn't doubt the greedy scalpers are already jumping on this, even though target is going to get many shipments through out December.

There wont be any more shipments for any Limited Time products in the ad such as the Tony Hawk board, the signed guitars, etc.
according to the ebay listing, they only made 7,000. I show the ad to a few zelda fan (got wii on day one) and they are ready to get this today. If you think about it, you are paying $40 extra for the legendary Halo 3, and with this you dont have to get the game. If they bundle it with a game and sell it for $89.99 people would go crazy over this.

I got one a little bit ago. My Target only seemed to have 12-15 on display, but they might have more in the back. They were a couple of aisles down from the electronics department, so I had to ask. One guy didn't know about it and asked a girl who also didn't know ("I think we sold out of those a few weeks ago") but then they asked another guy (the video game expert) who knew where they were.
Here are the pictures:

I haven't opened it up because it's going to be sort of a Christmas present to me from my wife. But it looks nice. The $40 is pushing it a little, but for an MR replica, that's not bad at all. In fact, it was the fact that this is from Master Replicas that convinced me to buy it, since I have several of their prop replicas and they are very good quality.

I woke up this morning just to get this. The first Target told me they didn't get them in (I was there waiting for the store to open), all in all I went into 4 Targets, only two of them got this set in.
I picked it up and it is really sweet, but I expected as much from a MR piece. If you are a Zelda or Nintendo fan I would definitely say it is worth it.

Oops, For some reason I thought they were different. Yeah, it certainly would have made it more worthwhile. I would have thought a full soundtrack would have been reasonable for $40...I think the other stuff is cool, but not worth $40.
With NP subscription (from the thread about it):
Yes, just the 7 tracks, most of which are the different region themes that just fade out on the CD when they start to loop. It comes in a cardboard sleeve that's even a little less fancy than the Wii Sports one... it doesn't fold open, it's just a slip-in pocket type. Art work on it is from the game cover with Link's head on one side of the sleeve and the wolf head on the other.
Here's the track list from the back:
The Legend of Zelda: Orchestra Piece #2
Hyrule Field Main Theme
Orodon Village
Kakariko Village
Death Mountain
Midna's Theme
Ilia's ThemeThe strategy guide is the same one as in the stores, with the shiny cover. I haven't looked it over too much because I want to play the majority of the game without it but it seems to be a very average guide. A couple pages with good art work up front but the rest is all business. There's a small fold-out poster in the back but no fancy full map to hang on your wall like I was hoping for. The maps are basic overhead solid color drawings at the beginning of each section. There is also a small separate section in the back with maps for the gamecube version which, as most know, are mirrored from the Wii version.
Target Collector Box:
I heard that it cost $39.99 and it includes
Master Sword and shield, certificate of authenticity, and a sample soundtrack which includes
1. The Legend Of Zelda Orchestra Piece #2
2. Hyrule Field Main Them
3. Kakariko Village
4. Death Mountain
5. Midna’s Theme
6. Ilia’s Theme
It looks like the Target one is missing a track, but I'm guessing that is not the case and they are, in fact, exactly the same. Why go to the trouble of producing two different sample soundtracks when you could just make one?

You should be glad that it's only 40 bucks. This is from Master Replicas. Their stuff is fantastic quality. I wouldn't be shocked if MR made a deal with Nintendo to reproduce more items based on games. If that's the case and this could become the first of a line of collectables and then expect this to be worth some cash down the line.
If I was a zelda nut I would bite the bullet and buy one now before their all gone.

I don't think you'll find any first party nintendo figures or non-gaming items. That's not their business. They make first party games, systems and accessories. They license their characters and other trademarks for other companies to produce figures and paraphernalia like this sword and shield. When it comes to stuff like this the Nintendo seal is about the best you're going to get in insuring licensed quality -
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/retail/licensee_merchandisers.jsp
That being said I'm not really interested much in this item for myself either. I do think it has a potential to become collectible and sell for a bit more than I bought it for in the not too distant future (The Nintendo license and seal will help with this.)

When I went and check out the old dude in the Express lane told me that it was the 4th one he has sold. Maybe it'll be worth something down the line, and i'll ebay it.. Also to the person who doesn't know who MasterReplica is you obviously don't know anything about Replicas. Master Replica is the top of the line Replica items around. They do Movies like StarWars(They make like the only Replica LightSabers , you had to have seen it sometime.) to Disney stuff. Everything is official from the actual companies.

Saw this in today's weekly ad, and decided to check it out after seeing a thread over in the Video Game Deals forum, then reading this thread. Found 17 of these on an endcap at my local Target, along with the Tony Hawk skateboard, near sporting goods several aisles down from the electronics/video games section. Got one as a bonus gift for my 8-year-old Nintendo fan (he's getting a Wii for his December birthday along with the new Zelda game). It's small but nice-looking, and I'm guessing he'll think it's very cool, want to hold the sword and shield, and then it'll go onto a shelf to be forgotten while he goes back to playing. :)

I noticed this in the ad as well. If it came with the game I would be all over it but as is $40 is way too steep for replica sword, shield, and lame soundtrack. I had to run to the grocery store so I stopped by the Target next door (quick Wii and PS3 check, yeah I know it was wishful thinking).
They had an entire endcap of these near the electronics next to the Tony Hawk skateboards. I'd buy it for $10 to $20 tops but that's just me.

There was a Tony Hawk "Project 8" skateboard + game combo on the same endcap. It's in the same section of the Target ad as the Zelda box. It's $89.99, skateboard deck + Project 8 game for either 360 or PS2.

At the Target closest to me the Zelda Collectors boxes were on an endcap left of the electonics counter about 20 feet away. On the top they had peg hooks with about 20 of the Zelda's and just below a few shelves that contained some sort of Tony Hawk skateboards ( I didn't look very closely at them).

They are probably not numbered, but they are limited. I don't know about the 7,000 figure, but that is certainly a possibility and in fact that is a very large amount for Master Replicas to produce. Many of their true limited editions only have 2000-3000 (admittedly these are much more expensive than this).

It looks like the Target one is missing a track, but I'm guessing that is not the case and they are, in fact, exactly the same. Why go to the trouble of producing two different sample soundtracks when you could just make one?
Well, I went to Target earlier to pick this up as well so I have both soundtracks now and they are in fact different. The art on the sleeve is basically the same but the track listing on the back of the Target case shows that it does indeed have one less track.
Now I didn't actually open the Target set and listen to the CD so I can't confirm that the CDs themselves are actually different... but they do have slightly different sleeves so I would assume that the one from Nintendo that comes with the guide does actually have the one more track than this one.
I got the last two at my target store, one for my friend for his bday today and one for me. thx op! this is pretty cool <3

I bought one today from the Tallahassee Target on the Parkway. They are on the bottom row inbetween the Wii stuff and GBA stuff. Not exactly in perfect sight, I overlooked them. Anyways as of right now there are 9 left for anyone interested. Just a heads up.
I think it looks pretty sweet. $40 is pushing it, but since I collect little things such as this, I couldn't pass it up. :)

Searched through the electronic and toy section, couldn't find it. Asked the electronics guy, and he said they only got 4 out and they had them on the corner isle near the food section, he also said they were sold out :(. I looked anyway and saw they had a dozen, so I picked up one :)

i just went to target to go check it out, and they had like a dozen or so.... i think $40 is a lil pricy for a 1/6th scale replica of the master sword and shield
i i could easily use that money toward another game or 2... by the way i noticed kingdom hearts II is seeing a universal price drop to $40 soon, it was $40 at my target and the guy said it was universal and not just a one week only sale kinda thing...
and even if i did buy one, what would i do with it?? i think it would just sit around and collect dust but i guess im not much of a collector, so i"ll pass....
but then again i could just buy one so i could sell it at a higher price on ebay when they are all gone and people become desparate for these :)

I definitely thought about it. I just didn't have quite enough in my checking account after the weekend without transferring money. Figured by the time I did that it wouldn't be there. At the same time I made no effort what so ever to try to figure out a way to buy it, which I could have

That go for about $5 bucks more on ebay, pretty sad people are that desperate. Then again, some of these people that have them for sale, also have Star Wars ships that go for retail (a loss $)
Tempting, but I don't see myself paying $40 for it. Now, if the game would've been included and they charged $70 or even $80 I probably would've jumped on it.

There was a commercial for exclusive items at Target during House tonight. They showed the same Tony Hawk board I saw underneath these Zelda boxes, and a Star Wars ship thingy.

That seems strange considering mine had at least a dozen.i was thinking about this the other day also. if you consider that it's #1 a target exclusive, and #2 not all targets are getting them, and #3 supposedly the targets that get them are getting 20 of them. then you figure that there are only 350 target stores selling them, period. then you figure that there are maybe 175 million people in urban america, that means one target per 500k urban population. so dallas has like 6 or 8 mil around the metroplex, that means 12-14 targets that carry it. sounds about right.

Thanks! For those of you actually taking them out the box, how are you going to display them? Most Master Replicas pieces have a display stand or case of some kind, but this just seems to have the box that it comes in, and I'm not sure if that would look good sitting up on a shelf.

Thanks for everyone who has taken pictures of their set.
I am going to have to hit up a couple Targets soon for this. I want to get it as a Christmas present for a friend of mine.
I was in 3 Targets today looking for Wii accessories and saw many of these at all 3. Was there some hint that these were limited from any official source? I was hoping to wait to get one on clearance .
Edit - OK, I've read through the thread. Damn, now I need to go back and get one. What sucks is that I could have gotten one a few hours ago when I was out and wasn't planning to go to Target again. With Target's 90 day return policy I can always pick one up now and if they go on clearance just return the full price one. If anyone is having trouble finding them let me know - I can probably pick up as many as needed (one store had at least 6, and another that many or more).

I'm still a bit iffy about picking this up. A Target store near me (San Jose at Landess/Morrill) had eight in stock as of last night (along with three of the limited Star Wars Imperial Shuttles - man that is a big box!). If anyone is interested, they are located at the same endcap as the Tony Hawk Birdhouse Decks, a ways from the video game section.

No, they won't adjust back to clearance prices.
You'd have to find a new one, buy it, then return it under the old receipt.
I guess the Targets near me are extra nice since I have gotten credit back on multiple clearance items just by bringing in my old receipt (even if the no longer have the item in stock due to it being sold or transfer to another store). I remember getting credit back 3 times on a painting since they continue to slash the price every other week or so. I think I paid $89 for it originally. In the end, I end up paying about $5 which was really cool (at least for me). I'm sure the people higher up at Target must hate me. The employees didn't give me a hard time or anything like that which was shocking (they didn't even resist). I wouldn't have put up a fight if they said no since they probably didn't have to do the adjustment in the first place.

I don't know. Someone earlier ran some rough figures and 7000 sounds like it could be close. Not all Targets got these and the ones that did got around 20 and that was it. I just think that the price point was way to high. Judging by this thread, which is a sample of gamers across the country, people would be willing to pay between $10 - $20 for them.

I'm sure they'll be in demand eventually, but not on the scale that M/Y/B/B is. Lots of parents want it for their kids, meaning that the demand is much higher than the demand for the Zelda pack every will be.

Thanks, picked one up. Actually found them in a "Clearance Items" aisle all the way in the back of the store by the toy dept. Was ringing up at $27.99, but I let the cashier know they were back there (everything in the aisle is apparently 75% off according to a sign that was up), and she went ahead and gave me 85% off. Ended up getting it for $6 and some change. Not bad if you ask me.
