I have finished my first attempt at fixing the acount creation errors at VGD.

Please help me out by testing this.

Things to do.

1. Add http://www.videogamedeals.com/product_info.php/products_id/1425 to your cart.

2. Click Checkout.
3. Click CONTINUE for getting new account.
4. Start the processs of creating a new account.

Now this is the important test area. Some users are experiencing a loop when trying to create an account. They click continue only to have the page reset and they try again and the page again gets reset . This will happen if you have a popup blocker like the google toolbar or if you press the IE browser back button to correct something. What I need is for you to attempt to recreate the loop with my newer pages and see if this still happens. If it does I need to know what you did.

THANK YOU.

Once this is totally fixed I will work on rewarding those that helped me to fix this.

The first time I tried it I clicked continue and i was just brought back to the same page with a cleared form. Then i tried it again and the account was created. I am using the google toolbar and IE 6.0 if that helps.

Test case #1: Test Testor.
Everything when fine. Introduced specific errors (no password, not long enough phone number, non matching passwords.)

All Clear for this test scenario.

I.E build, 60.2800.1106.
No Google toolbar.

did you see any errors on the page?

Also did you abbreviate the state?

I tried to sign up for a new account and it took me back one time. The second time it went through just fine. I'm using a different computer (I'm at work at the moment) but it's the same as the one back in my room. IE 6.0.28 with Google pop-up stopper on. I'll mess around with it some more.

EDIT: Hmmmmm....well, after completing it, I hit back and tried to fill it in again. Kept bringing up the same screen over and over again. I tried abbreviating the state as you mentioned in the post above and it went through just fine.

I had no idea what it was I was supposed to do. This is what I did

- I created a new account
- I pressed continue and it said it was succesful
- Once I went to hit the back button on the browser (and I also have a pupup blocker) it had no information, but when I filled it all exactly the same, with the same e-mail, it did say that account was already created.
- I did the log in, and everything seemed right...

Did I do something wrong...or right...or...man I confused myself

IE version 6.0.2800 Windows XP

Edit: Sorry I didn't know about the TEST as last name...my first name was Testing, and last name was this out

Please post if you have a popup blocker installed or any odd configs to your browser.

Also use the name TEST as last name so later it will be easy for me to erase all of these.

Thanx

did you see any errors on the page?

Also did you abbreviate the state?

No noticable errors, State Abreviation work for this test case.
Will attempt with other state abbreviations.

Made a new account - Mandy Test. Had the Google pop-up blocker off, put New York as the city. Went through without a hitch. I'll try some more...

Ok:

So what I did was creat a new account and fill out everything that was necessary. I completed all the fields and got a congratulations your account is created and you will get an e-mail. Then I tried to press back to change something about the information, but it didn't have my info there, it was blank. I filled in the same info, but it said that e-mail is already in use. So I am going to go check my e-mail now.

I have the latest IE and no popupblock software, but I do have a firewall.

The only thing was that, I put CHEAPASSGAMER for address and city and for state i put CA, and for zip i put some zip from near by (not bogus).

Test case #2: test test.
Again, it worked flawlessly.
Specificly entered a bogus state abbreviation (ZO).
Page came back with all fields except for password populated and instructed me to choose a state from the drop down list.

All Clear for this test scenario.

I.E build, 60.2800.1106.
No Google toolbar or pop up blocker, but Spybot is active.

This is suppose to happen...since you already recieved the SUCCESS page you cant go back and edit...however you can go to your account and edit details.

ANYONE WITH A POPUP BLOCKER PLEASE ACTIVATE IT. I really need to test this with the popup blocker active.

So far the testing seems positive.

So, I went back to try and make a new account, Harland Test. Didn't go through the first time, so I tried again, and again, and again. I've tried 6 times and it keeps bringing me back to the same page. I kept the info the same each time at first, then changed the state, tried abbreviations, etc. Still the same. The only difference this time around than the last is I put the Google pop-up blocker on. Tried the state South Dakota and the abbreviations SD and ZL.

EDIT: Went back and tried it again - Harland Test. Google pop-up blocker on and I used the Autofill button, Texas as state. Worked just fine.

were you reentering your password each time? When you go back it...you must reenter the password again

Heather Test - same basic setup as before. Changed the state to Nevada, the email etc. Used Autofill again. Worked fine

Reran both test case 1 and 2 after installing the Google toolbar. No negative changes in the site functionality.

I'm not sure who you're referring to, but I'll pretend that I'm important and it was me. Yeah, I was. It's seems to be working fine now. I've already made 2 accounts as I've described above.

Chuck Test from California went right through. Same as before. Google pop-up blocker on, used Autofill button, etc. etc.

EDIT: Add Barry Test to that list from Florida. One thing I have noticed is that if I put the state in the autofill and when I click the button, it abbreviates the state. That'll cause it to go back and re-enter the full name. But other than that, everything seems tip-top...at least for the moment.
Is there anything else needed to do? Do you just want us to create new accounts and stop there?

Tried making a new account with my "worst" set up (pop-up blocker on, high security) and left some fields blank, got the proper error messages.

Filled all those out, account created successfully.

Absolutely no problems here anymore!

Sorry for those not on the list but these were the ones with real problems and were good at trying again and reporting the problems and retrying as well.

FYI- the vouchers require no minimum and I believe they are stackable with a coupon..I think.

Not a problem defender - I like your site, just haven't put together an order yet - but you seem to be fair and honest about your pricing, unlike some online sites I browse where months old games still sit at $49.99 each.

Looking forward to placing an order with you soon! :)
