When Nintendo gets its Wii gaming service running,we can download NES, Super Nintendo, and N64 games.
Will they offer Cube games for download too?

No.

No.
I think it means more somehow if you put it in quotations. Like this:
"No."
What do you think?
I think the better one word response would be "Why?"

Some cube games like Eternal Darkness are hard to find.
Or scratched & non-functional.

No, too big.
There, a longer and more detailed answer.

There will be all new games for the VC.

You can almost certainly get Eternal Darkness on eBay for under $20, including shipping, right now. I guarantee you it would be at least that much if N64 games are $10 (and up, possibly). There might be a couple desirable very rare 'cube games out there, but they'd probably take forever to hit the VC anyway.
See, that's the good side of that site.
P.S. Yeah, and the whole 'file size' thing, too.

In fact, I bought Eternal Darkness from this site just a month ago for 6$.
I love you CAG.

exactly like was said, gcn GAMES ARE TOO BIG SIZE WISE to work with this, and Id hate to see what Nintendo would charge, with N64 games running 10 apiece :)

i read somewhere that nintendo was considering re-releasing some GC games with Wii functionality as budget titles.
Can you imagine Wind Waker with TP's control scheme??? **DROOL***

i don't think Nintendo will retire their GameCube console and games line-up any time soon. i mean take a look at their portable gaming, despite the DS being around, they still have GBA's in their product line.

I don't even think they are doing Dreamcast games due to size issues. I might be wrong on that though.

Can you imagine Wind Waker with TP's control scheme??? **DROOL***I would buy that in a heart-beat. As I'm digging my way through Zelda I want to replay WW and actually play OoT and MM, but I'm having trouble fathoming playing them with a regular controler.
Maybe a combo disc, OoT, MM, and WW, with TP controls, for $50. Sold.

Maybe near the end of the Wii's lifespan, (in 5 years or so), there'll be GameCube and DreamCast games on the VC.

Not only are they too big, you can already play them with the original discs, unlike with the older consoles.

OK, I'll tackle the first part of this quote - "When Nintendo gets its Wii gaming service running"?? I've been playing Mario 64 on the Wii since day one (Nov. 19th). There ain't no "when", it is running now. Just thought that was an odd way to put it in a post written today (Dec 1st).

Actually, I think they just recently stopped working on the GBA. And Nintendo treats its portables way differently than its consoles. The GameCube died a year ago. And the N64 died quite some time before the Cube came out.

Yeah, but it will be a bit different this time. I've seen a few threads on CAG where people who just bought Wii's but never had a GC are asking what GC games to pick up. Plus I've seen people at EB looking through the used GC games to play on their Wii's (first time I've seen anyone in that section for a while ;)).
I'm sure Nintendo will keep publishing Player's Choice titles for a while. They will probably see a spike in GC game sales due to the Wii, especially if it continues to sell as well as it has. This is partly due to the drought in upcoming Wii games. Alot of those new Wii owners will probably pick up the classics anyway - and there's certainly enough classic GC games to keep people busy for a while.
Plus, once Nintendo gets people hooked on the Wii (and games like Zelda) people naturally want to check out the older versions of these games. The whole VC concept will be there to remind people of that as well. Or at least I'm sure they are hoping this will happen ;).

Y'all are correct.
Downloading a 1500 megabyte Cube game would take a Slight Bit longer than downloading a 32 meg N64 game. ;-)
Sony continued selling PS1 until 2005.
Perhaps Nintendo can continue selling a cheap $25 version of the Cube well into the future?

"Nintendo" and "cheap" aren't two things I think of when it comes to games. Usually, by the time Nintendo games officially drop in price, nobody gives a rats ass about them anymore. And when they re-release a game, they know how to charge you for it.

I think it would be a good idea for Nintendo to wii-release some GC games in a 2-pack and a free SNES VC game. Like they could put Luigi's Mansion & Mario Sunshine discs in one package, with a code to download SuperMario All-Stars+World for the VC. Metriod Prime 1&2 with Super Metriod. Starfox Adv & Assault with the original Starfox. Pikman 1&2 with Chrono Trigger:pray:.

Gamecube didnt die a year ago, as evidenced by the strong priceing of many of it titles. Even many used GC titles command high prices. Obviously the demand is high.

I was discussing the Gamecube CONSOLE pricetag.
A low-priced $25 console for the toddlers would be a great move by Nintendo. Although I guess the Gameboy already fills that role.

I don't think this will happen. The main reason the PS1 lasted so long is good third party support, which is the total opposite of the Gamecube.

Why would Nintendo manufacture a GameCube and sell it for $25? Wii plays Cube games...why lose money?

I agree with the comments in here. I've spent minimal money to get three of the GC's best: SSB, Zelda:WW, and RE4. Just wait for sales & deals and grab the "greats." Getting into a system at the end of it's lifecycle has many advantages.

I don't know. Why did Sony manufacture a PSone for $40???

...because they had high third party support.
What I'm most surprised about is that there have been virtually NO deals on Gamecubes at most retailers. Best I've seen recently was the $88 from Target. I mean, last year, didn't they have the fucking Mairo Kart bundle with an extra controller? That was basically selling the GC for $30 ($50 game + $20 controller + GC all for $100). I can't believe there's no super-cheap GC sales or really good bundles. Fry's, which bundles every other game system (PS2 with like 10 games now) doesn't even have one. And they all have GC's to sell .
The thing is, I would pick one up on the cheap under TWO conditions - if they still had the component out and the cables for such were readily available. I could probably set up another GC on some future HD TV in another room. For a "standard-def" downgraded GC, though, no thanks - meh, maybe if they go to $25 new.

No comprehende'. How does 3rd-party support make a PSone viable as late as 2005? I genuinely don't understand. What made customers buy a PSone instead of PS2?

They could buy the cheapass PS1, and a few of those ~$5 cut-rate PS1-only titles at Target/Wal-Mart, and the kids would be happy for many hours for far cheaper than the $150 or whatever a PS2 would have cost at the time. The games were more affordable because they weren't first-party titles with popular characters, but hey, cheap games.

And Nintendo Cube games cost $20-30 so it's not a bargain. Got ya. Understood.
