The Good: Challenging campaign features a better story than previous Splinter Cell games; good amount of cooperative two-player missions.

The Bad: Little in the way of new gameplay in the campaign; competitive multiplayer modes from other versions have been cut; the control scheme is unusual but flawed; only one save slot, shared between single-player and co-op play.

I found this part of the review interesting since I hadn't thought of it that way:

Earlier this year, publisher Ubisoft confirmed that the next installment in the Splinter Cell series is being developed exclusively for the Xbox 360 and PC, which means Splinter Cell Double Agent for the Wii is probably the first and last time we'll get to see Agent Fisher on Nintendo's new console. Considering his shaky track record with Nintendo during the past several years, maybe that's for the best.

Maybe there will be a Wii-specific SC title built just for the Wii? Probably not, but it would be interesting.

Also, I'm wondering how GameSpot beat IGN to the review.

I figured there couldn't be too much they could do with the controller, I figured a lock-picking/safe-cracking thing and use of the speaker in the remote would be a good idea, but I guess they didn't go along with it.

One save slot is the biggest downer ever.

Never really got into the series, but if they don't want to build a Splinter Cell specifically for the Wii, there's no point in porting anything over to it.

ONE SAVE SLOT? What the fuck is that? Didn't Super Mario All-Stars for the SNES have more save slots than that for each game? Damn, with this review and Far Cry it looks like 2 of the games I was looking forward to are going to be shit.

But the graphics are disappointing, looking nowhere near as good as the Xbox version, though at least a little better than the PlayStation 2 version.

What is with all these PS2 comparisons? Is it really that hard to bring a good-looking crossplatform game to the Wii at launch?

This series has just gone downhill, this sloppy port doesn't help anything either. I'll just play MGS twin snakes instead...

I just rented this and have only played the original Splinter Cell on my PC.

I didn't get caught up in comparing the graphics. It looks decent enough to me.

I was having fun with it tho. The control was easy to get used to. You jump with the Nunchuck (swing it up or down). And you control the camera and aiming with the remote (pointing).

The game could have been polished a bit more, but I would have rated it more like 7.5 - higher than what Gamestop did.

It all depends on what you want, but I feel using the remote to aim and other things helps with the immersion.

do the wiimote functions feel gimicky and tacked on?

Seriously...but I guess the developers need a lil more time.

I'd assume so...

do the wiimote functions feel gimicky and tacked on? I didn't think gimicky. I think some of it could have been refined.

Maybe I'm just not as cynical as these "gaming" magazines/sites are. Bottom line for me is if I'm having fun or not. I was having fun, but I was not very far into the game yet.
