I got a call from BB about 2 hours ago, asking me to come in for an interview for a computer tech position tomorrow. I am assuming I will be interviewing with the store manager. My question is whether or not he wears a suit or not. I am actually kinda pumped about working there, its only 5 minutes from the college I am going to in the fall. Thanks.

My manager never wore a suit...I'm pretty certain it's required that they wear the Best Buy uniform.

Usually the store managers just wear those yellow or blue shirts. I don't work there though.

Wear a tie. A suit may be a little overdressed. The BB managers don't wear suits if I remember correctly. Good luck man.

Always wear a suit to an interview.. even if the manager is under-dressed as compared to you. I do alot of hiring for my company and I refuse to hire anyone for any position that doesn't wear suit to the interview, its just disrespectful.

No suit for them. Shirt and Tie for you. And good luck bub.

As important as it is to dress nice for an interview you never want to overdress. Being that even best buy managers wear the same blue polo shirt and name tag, Id say you got a good shot with just a dress shirt and tie. Just make sure its not all wrinkled.

Thanks for the input so far. I really dont want to be overdressed. This is a tough one. I figure I'll just wear my suit slacks, dress shoes, and tie. I'll just bring in jacket in case I change my mind.

Generally, I agree, but I interviewed with someone for a job a few years ago and was told by the interviewer NOT to wear a suit, or even a tie. And this was a for professional position requiring a Masters Degree. It depends on the culture of the company and the interviewer. As a general rule though, wear a suit.

I wore and polo shirt and khaki pants when I had my interview at Best Buy. The GM (the individual who runs the store) usually dresses just like any other employee. When you go in for your interview it will actually be a series of 3 interviews, the first two by a manager, and then the last one by the GM. Good luck, although with the way Best Buy has cut my hours lately I'm now looking for a second job.

Suit might be overdoing it. I'd recommend going with a jacket however. And you can never be overdressed. Unless its construction or something like that.

My Store Manager wears a dress shirt w/ tie and slacks. I read a while ago some MSN tips on interviews. They said to find out what the dress code is and dress a level above it.

Because I have to go back to school and get my degree. BB is 5 minutes from campus. Plus it will be easy, set hours....

My guess is because he said he was still going to be in school and BB is usually pretty flexible about educational stuff

When I worked there it was 5% above cost...which can be a little or a lot depending on what you buy.
