Is anyone making games just for virtual console?

Companies have announced games for the Playstation Network and Live that are origional titles just for those formats....but iv yet to hear of anyone making a game just for VC. Anyone heard anything?

I think Nintendo has alluded to that they are.

Personally though I'd rather they just be published on disc, especially since VC games are tied to the hardware.

Some development groups are, but it depends. Nintendo is also picky about who gets a dev kit for VC reasons, looking more towards individuals and groups that have had some experience in programming games before selling them a dev kit.

It may still be a while until we see something original, honestly.

Well the thing is people don't really care about these download games and even if they did give out these download games.

It is like me getting data and calling it a product with no shell or having a sprit with no body. Also Nintendo along with some other people did this before withthe SNES and NES.

Personally I would to get my hands on these devkits and get a team people together to create my dream game.

There isn't much motivation thus far. So many established publishers have a long backlist of proven hit games ready to go that are well suited to the format. Microsoft is the most motivated int his area because they have the least material to draw upon from previous platforms. Sony have a vast library from previous platforms but much of it is overly large, so they fall in between.

Somebody will do it eventually but it will almost certainly be a new company rather than any existing publisher since there is so much easy money to be had from reviving exist code bases.

That kind of format might be really good for a company like PopCap, who traditionally make really addictive flash games for the PC.

Good point. Problem with Microsoft's stuff, is I've been completely underwhelmed by their Live Arcade stuff. I'd much rather play a great game from 5-20 years ago than a mediocre new game ....well, and lots of the Live Arcade library is REALLY old stuff, and not even emulated well at that (or has control issues because of the horrible d-pad on that thing).
