I have a 60GB bundle from costco with Genji coming in. Unfortunetly I already opened my 20 gb -_-........................

Anyway I'm probably gonna keep the Genji from the bundle since they don't usually help ebay sale prices at all. Anyway what are your thoughts? So far I havent heard anyone chime in on this game at all. I know the reviewers gave it around a 6/10 overall all around, but I was wondering what others thought.

I thought it was pretty good, I played all the way through it. Definately better than a 6/10 IMO. I'd give it a 7-8 if I reviewed it. The camera gets annoying occasionally, but it only really bothered me once towards the beginning of the game there you couldnt see something you needed to hit.

Also, theres a glitch at the beginning of the game:

When you play as Shizuka for the first time you need to get a key from a dead soldier in white on the left side of the area first thing. If you do it after one of the cutscenes the soldier is mysteriously gone and you have to start from the beginning of the game

But anyways, if you like Onimusha games I don't see any reason you wouldn't like this.

Ah k, I was getting that impression upon reading the reviews. I've really enjoyed all the onimusha games so it's good to hear. Thanks for the heads up on the glitch.

did you have to do an install for this game?

I did do the install. I'm not sure if its required or not, because as soon as I saw it I just chose it, but I would think it is.

I think its a good amount better than what the reviews are giving it. The camera could be a little better, but overall I'm glad I bought it but I also really like the first one.

It's the first game I'm buying on PS3. I thought the first Genji was the best Samurai/ninja action game I ever played (over Ninja Gaiden, Onimusha, etc.), so I definitely want to play it. A little disappointed that the control is manual, instead of fixed, but oh well.

Well after playing through the first level I do see what the reviewers were talking about and why they were so harsh on it. There's quite a few touches that make it seem quite ghetto despite the great looking visuals. For example they briefly tell you where to go in text and it gets quite confusing and easy to get lost. There's awhole lot of common old game design flaws within the game that kick at you. The Combat is above average but definetly a bit too slow. God knows why they didn't add in Japanese Dialogue Option since they decided to use the world's most fobby voice actors for this game, Plus we got all that Bluray Space. And oh yeah the camera............... What can I say, sometimes it's just zoomed in and you can't see jack.........

I'd still give it a 7/10 rather than the 5-6 avg it's been getting. With a bit more effort put in, this game could have been quite good

on a positive note, the save points are pretty plentiful that I noticed, hope that continues on.

Yikes! I went into options and then sound and there is Japanese Language voice setting! Woohooo!!! Wow that raises the game a good .5 points at least there :D

It was most definatley longer. I'll check my completion time in a little bit.

EDIT: Well, maybe its not as long as I thought, only took me 10 hours 20mins to beat it.

Maybe I just died a lot :-P

I just downloaded the demo for this game, and I must say I am very impressed at the graphics. They are just beautiful. The game itself doesn't look that great in terms of its gameplay, but it seems like it's a good showpiece for what the PS3 can do.

I love to read reviews and get that gist as to what's going on with a game, but sometimes you have to play a game for yourself. I played the demo for Genji, and for some reason, I like the game... and I definitely think this game deserves, a 7.5-8. Seeing it in action, what game looks better than Genji... (that's out now), and the gameplay is nice, at heart it's a simple action or (beat em up) game... this game deserves some respect, and I'm not affraid to give it to it.

I liked the first game (though it was to short for me) but I hated the demo. It looks cool, but I was having horrible camera angle problems.

-Genji has graphics of next gen.

-Genji has small PS1-era environments.

-Genji has one of the worst in-game camera's ever. Most of the time you can't even see your enemies because of the piece of shit camera.

It's true that graphics don't make a good game, and this is proof. This game is trash.

Genji makes fundamental game design errors, lacks presentation and polish, and the camera makes certain parts rediculously annoying.

The sad thing is Genji could have easily been an 8.5 at least with a few minor changes. In the end people are just being very harsh on the game (which I can see why) but I've had some fun playing it. It certainly didn't have the polish of Onimusha but it was still prety decent.

And I don't see why hims had to add in the little line trying to bash graphics. It wasn't graphics that bogged this game down so why do you want to put a negative spin on a positive side to this game? So sick of people trying to downplay graphics to justify the superiority for thier emoness.

A decent PS2 level game makes for a crappy PS3 level game.

It's not that it's horribly unplayable crap like Gundam, it's just a very mediocre game that's worth $20 at most.

To be honest, this should have been packed in with the system.

The main problem seems to be that they zoomed too close in on the characters and also gave you no way to control the camera. Plus, the game play is pretty repetitive. Good graphics though.

After playing further into Genji the rating goes up. The game really deserved at least a 7.5 rather than the 5-6 avg it got.

I've seen plenty of worse games out there get higher.

Why bother with a crappy game when there are plenty of good PS2 games still waiting to be played?

I've played 2 whole PS3 games and a bunch of demos, I'm done for now.

well i finally figured out how to flip the crap, you use benkei's upwards swing.

I got through the boat area and that was pretty fun. Game was getting better.

One thing I don't get is why these developers jack up these games by not placing damn save points in places there should be one. Like for all the battle areas, you play for like 30 minutes only to get your ass kicked by one of the larger enemies. I mean WTF.......... they want me to replay 30 mins of crap I just went through? No thanks............

Anyone got any tips on fighting crabs besides with Benkei?

I killed most of the crabs with Yoshitsune/Shizuka. I just jumped in, attacked and jumped back when it was about to attack and used the occasional kamui attack. I hardly ever used Benkei throughout the whole game...he just attacks too slow for me.

Yeah, my sentiments exactly. Not to mention some of the best PS2 games I've yet to play through cot less than $20.

After playing the demo I can safely say that Genji2 is worth $20 at the most. Like I said before, it's the perfect Altered Beast-type pack-in game. It's a shame Sony thought to release it at $50

Only played Genji for the ps2 and I enjoyed it very much. Very pretty game. Played much like Onimusha. Lots of hack and slash + button timing attacks. Never noticed much of a camera problem.

Genji2 basically looks like the same stuff with better graphics, though I can't really comment on it cuz I haven't played the game nor seen the demo even. Unless they tried to update some of the system and royally fucked up though, I don't see why this can't be an enjoyable game.

When I get the game, I'll probably agree. I thought the first Genji on PS2 was sweet and better than every samurai/ninja game I played. The sequel is the whole reason I want a PS3 now. I wouldn't be surprised if I liked it better than every 360 game currently out.

Glad to see another like Genji 2. :D

The problem is it's not even good.Maybe to you, but not to everyone else. The game IS great. That's like me saying the problem with Gears of War is that it's not good (I don't think the game is very good, but you don't hear me saying it much).

The sequel is the whole reason I want a PS3 now. I wouldn't be surprised if I liked it better than every 360 game currently out.Well I certainly hope you enjoy it as much as the original. It sounds like you will.

I for one, was disappointed with it's play and repetition... and the camera leaves much to be desired. Yes, it's pretty but that doesn't make a game for me.

I never get tired of hacking tons of enemies in Samurai Warriors, N3, Devil Kings, Dynasty Warriors, etc. type games. Outside of RPGs and music/dance games, they're what I play most. The camera is my only concern (I would prefer the more fixed camera Genji had), but I can deal with it (I was able to deal with KH camera, Blinx camera, Dino Crisis 3 camera, etc.).

Repetition is never a problem for me. I never get tired of hacking tons of enemies in Samurai Warriors, N3, Devil Kings, Dynasty Warriors, etc. type games. I'll take the earlier Kingdom Under Fires over N3. ;) I love hacking also.

But for some games there's very little in the way of skill and combos. It's just repeatedly hitting one or two buttons. Anyway, I found Genji II somewhere between here and there. For whatever reason I found the repetition dull this time. *shrugs*

darn that sounds like a whole lot of work.....

With Benkei all you had to charge up was his triangle attack with his starting weapon and just spin kill that crab a few times.

I did manage to flip the crab and it does indeed do massive damage. Great moment ;)
Honestly with a little bit of polish this game couldve been just as good as any of the onimusha games. There are moments in this game where i've had quite a bit of fun, but it's certain fustrating times that taint the ongoing vibe. But it's no reason to skip this game based on the low review scores.

The Funny thing about Genji is that I actually am enjoying it more than Resistance. It's not to say Genji is a better game than resistance, but because I've had a whole year of shooters of the sort on the 360 and I could tell I was just waiting for this type of adventure game to hit next gen. I'm pretty sure i'm gonna beat Genji before I go back to beat resistance. In the end interestingly enough Genji ended up being a good reason why I kept my ps3.

I fully played and beat the Genji 2 demo, five times now.

When I first played, yeah I was caught by the awful camera. I hated the camera the first two times I played, but now it doesn't bother me (I got use to Dino Crisis 3 camera)

The gameplay, while playing as the main character, is perfectly fine IMO. It feels a little last gen, but I personally like that. The gameplay of the girl is all right, but did feel a tad slow IMO. The gameplay for the big guy was very slow and hard to control. Although he can deal big damage to enemies, so it isn't bad.

At first, I struggled with the demo, until I realized I was suppose to hit the bosses weakness for MASSIVE DAMAGE. Also, I didn't notice I could change my characters on the fly (I stuck to one character and died), and once I did, it made the game much easier.

On the second battle, I enjoyed doing real-time weapon changing and switching between characters. The 2nd part was going just fine until I came across the Giant Enemy Crab. He was right behind me and the camera was stuck, where I could not move. However, that only happened the first time I played the demo (every time after that was fine). I wasn't able to find his weak point, until I switched to the big guy, and he eventually attacked the weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE. Now, I can deal massive damage really quickly and eliminate the giant enemy crab in no time. Hitting weak points is fun.

Now I REALLY gotta buy this game. The demo alone is one of the best next generation games IMO. I'm starting to like this just as much as the first Genji. I went back to play the first, Yoshitsune(sp) doesn't fight as nicely as the sequel (although, it could be the weapon I had equipped).

its just not a $60 enjoyment.
